INDUSTRY SUMMIT

.
Specifically designed for Australian musicians’ professional development, the Jazz Industry Summit is a day full of panel discussions, keynote speakers and performance workshops.
The summit covers recording and releasing, publicity and marketing, revenue streams, funding, international touring. Learn how to pitch your music to labels or how to release your music independently. Hear from the industry’s best on how to promote your gig, get airplay and secure album reviews.
Artistic Director of Portland Jazz Festival, USA and President of DL Media, Don Lucoff joins the summit as our 2018 Jazz Industry Ambassador. With a huge list of accolades to his name, Don has worked with artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, BB.King, Bill Evans, Max Roach and Mel Torme; represented heavyweight jazz labels Blue Note, Impulse! and Verve; and been involved with festivals all around the world. Hear stories, insights and practical tips from one of America’s foremost experts in jazz when Don delivers a keynote presentation May 12.
There are also performance workshops. Spend an hour with one of Australia’s legends of jazz, Dr Judy Bailey. Learn about her radical approach to jazz improvisation and gain insights and practical tips to bring your unique style into the jazz context. Take a vocal workshop with award-winning vocalist and Queensland Conservatorium of Music vocal teacher Kristin Berardi, or a Piano Workshop with pianist, composer and radio presenter Adam Rudegeair.
Round out the day with the afternoon networking event. A chance to join panellists, musicians and media for drinks and nibbles to chat over the day’s learnings. The Jazz Industry Summit brings the following music industry professionals together for practical and informative sessions covering all your artist needs.
