Music Victoria would like to thank everyone who signed up or renewed during its 2018 Membership Drive.
The ‘Live and Breathe Music’ Campaign Video starring Ecca Vandal, Sophie Koh, Benny Walker, plus members of Cookin’ On Three Burners, King Parrot, High Tension, Mesa Cosa and Broads and the staff of Music Victoria, is by far its most engaging membership drive campaign video to date, with the music community watching it over 72,000 times in ten days.
All new members or those renewing have until Thursday 12 April to pay up, for a chance to win one of over $8,500 worth of prizes including a Maton acoustic guitar, a vinyl pressing from Zenith, free live gig filming from Semiconductor Media and TicketWeb, van hire from Blue Groove, tickets to some of Victoria’s favourite venues, record store vouchers, professional development prizes and more, with all prizes drawn on Tuesday 17 April.

Music Victoria prides itself on supporting music lovers and businesses in whatever way they can, and over the next 12 months, membership fees will enable Music Victoria to continue to represent and support its members through advocacy, professional development, and celebrating the state’s best music.
The latest announcements for 2018 include:
* Music Cities Convention – Melbourne on 19, 20 April
* The newly released 2018 Professional Development Program;
* Continued live music advocacy through Victorian Live Music Roundtable
* Participation in EPAV’s SEPP N-2 live music sound management review
* Participation in the Sexual Harassment Taskforce and training pilot
* Expanded Chapter in the Best Practice Guidelines for Live Music Venues.
The Best Practice Guidelines update includes the expanded Chapter 15: ‘Working with Musicians’ written by Chelsea Wilson and Music Victoria’s Artist Advisory Panel. This chapter was originally written by Jen Cloher and members of the Victorian State Government Live Music Roundtable (2012) and has now been expanded upon, with sample event documents provided for artists and venues new to working in live music. The updated guidelines reflect the ever-evolving changes in Victoria’s live music landscape.
The Professional Development Program for 2018 will see Music Victoria host a touring masterclass in late April in regional areas Ballarat and Geelong with the topic ‘Pitching Your Music To Radio’. All Music Victoria members are eligible to attend the masterclass for free, as well as all other workshops, presentations and panel discussions on the program.
