Offering a chance to dance the night away, Club Sessions is Stonnington Jazz’s series of late night events, featuring Australia’s finest future soul, funk and R’n’B outfits.
Musical juggernaut Billy Davis kicks off the series on May 11. The keyboardist and composer whose music combines the sounds of contemporary jazz with hip hop, funk, R&B and gospel takes the stage with The Good Lords and hip hop artist P-UniQue and DJ Mz Rizk.
Next up is Sydney’s GODTET supported by DJ Shio Otani and La Sape DJs on May 12. Led by Godriguez, GODTET are five-piece ensemble pushing the boundaries of improvised music within a framework of hip-hop, jazz, soul and psychedelia.
Exuding charisma, soul singer Emma Donovan and Melbourne rhythm combo The PutBacks bring their hard-hitting and heartfelt soul songs of grief, struggle and redemption to Club Sessions on May 18. Winners of the Music Victoria Best Soul, R’n’B and Gospel Album, their uniquely Australian sound is gritty, whilst simultaneously classic and contemporary. Joining them for the evening are Hope Street Records label mates Leisure Centre (formerly known as The Do Yo Thangs) and DJ Lyndelle Wilkinson.
Closing the Club Sessions with one huge party on May 19, are self-described dirty beatnik rock ‘n’ roll band Jazz Party and DJ Richie1250. Jazz Party have garnered a reputation for their wild live show that has seen them grace stages at Golden Plains, Dark Mofo, WOMADelaide, and Brunswick Music Festival and we are very excited to have them join Stonnington Jazz 2018.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
