Top 5 Photos Of The Week
Week 3
By Dave Bruce, CEO
.
Just as it sounds, we thought it was time to start highlighting some of the great work done by our Amnplify Photographers each week. Every week, photos will be submitted, a “Top 5” will be selected and voted on, and one photo will be given the title of our “Photo Of The Week”. Just a little recognition for a photographer who has a goal to shoot impeccably.
The truth is we have thousands of photos posted each month and most of our photographers should get an award for their work. Live Music Photography is a skill like no other. Whether you are squashed into a pit or roaming through the crowd for “The Shot”, the photographer usually has little time and on many occasions poor light to deal with, not to mention the usually “charged” crowd taking every “perfect” spot. In my eyes, they are experts in their field and often unseen and unheard. Over time, we want to change that a little.
Week 3 below. Checkout Week 1 here and Week 2 here.
Enjoy the photos, and checkout more of their work. Watch out for flies as your mouths may be open as you do.

Paul Tadday
Music has always been an important part of my life. Before I was 10 years old I was listening to Kiss, The Eagles, The Who, Split Enz and AC/DC… By my late teens my musical journey had landed me on the stage playing the hard rock and metal that I loved so much. Since 2014 my love of music has taken me behind the lens, and now I feel the stage rush from the photo pit instead! Even after shooting 100’s of shows I still get that rush from the energy on the stage and I strive to capture that same energy in my images. The thrill of the chase… there’s nothing better!!
It’s great when every thing comes together at the right time for a shot… The lighting for Korn’s set at Download was brilliant. That meant that I could up the speed of this exposure to 1/400 and freeze a lot of Head’s dreadlocks in the shot. The blue spotlight on his right side flashed just at the right time to highlight his hair. This is from a sequence of shots fired off in burst mode, and definitely my favourite from Korn’s set.

Albert Lamontagne
My names Albert and I’ve been shooting music for just under a year and it has been some of the most productive and enjoyable time of my life. Before I began shooting at gigs I was taking photos and making videos casually for friends at the skate park and some bmx events at various skateparks around Melbourne. Since turning 18 and being able to attend far more shows than I would as a minor I began to fall in love with live music and watching the way that the band members work the crowd and manoeuvre around the stage was fascinating to me. I then fell in love with music photography by following bands on Instagram and Facebook and seeing such incredible photographers as Neal Walters and pees(photographer for the amity affliction). Since then I have shot for so many incredible people and musicians. Now that I’m a part of the Amnplify team the future has never looked to so exciting and I can’t wait to see what comes of it!
This photo was taken the first time I shot/saw MIRRORS live and it was an extremely energetic show. Although they may have been opening for another band they still bring they’re own lights/hazers for high quality production! Cant wait for they’re next show!!!

Nathan Goldsworthy
I am Nathan, I’m an up and coming photographer from Melbourne who has recently joined my love of music with my love of photography. In my short time capturing concerts I have managed to photograph some amazing artists, many I have loved for a long time.
This particular shot is of the front man for Belphegor, HELMUTH during their recent tour (and my first shoot for Amnplify) at Direct Underground Fest. Belphegor is an extreme metal band from Austria and put on one hell of an amazing live show.

John de Haan
I started taking photos a few years ago and found mixing dual passions for live music and photography extremely rewarding. My main passion is capturing musicians and connecting with them in their ‘moment’ through the lens. I enjoy all facets of live music photography from the small, intimate pub gigs to the bigger venues and festivals. Nothing feels better than when you nail that perfect shot or jump!
It was a very lucky pic, being in the right place at the right time in a very full Metro pit.
