Haunting and hypnotic, Grace Turner reveals her intrinsically honest and thoughtful new single ‘Dead or Alive’ out now.

Propelled by beating drums and the strumming of guitar, ‘Dead or Alive’ is a mixture of folk, rock and alt-country, paired with the strong yet sweet vocals from Turner. The release showcases her innate ability to deliver honest and deliberate recollections of internal struggles and the solace found with true friendship. Inspired by a conversation with a concerned friend in a dark time, Turner explains,

“The lyrics in the chorus are literally transcribed from our conversation. She called and said, ‘I didn’t know if you’d be dead or alive’. The whole song was written in about an hour after the phone call.”

Receiving triple j airplay, an add-on unearthed and included in Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week playlist, ‘Dead or Alive’ has sent Turner on a steady upward trajectory.

The single follows the release of ‘Angry’ in late 2017 which turned more than a few heads with features on Crack in the Road, Ear to the Ground and Obscure Sounds. The alt-folk singer songwriter’s knack to write emotive, vulnerable songs is nothing short of addictive, and when coupled with her authenticity and alluring vocals, ensures she stands out in a crowded genre.
