Young, smart and broke:

What we learnt from triple j’s ‘Census for Young People’

Despite working full or part-time, the typical young Aussie has less than $5K in the bank, but reckons they’ll own their own home one day.

That’s according to triple j’s What’s Up In Your World survey, which 11,000 Australians aged 18 – 29 took part in back in April. The data paints a detailed and fascinating picture of what it’s like to be a young person in Australia right now (hint: they work hard and party less than you’d think).

Want to know how many young Aussies are sending nudes, taking drugs and working a side hustle? What about how unsafe they feel at night, what they think about the future of the planet or whether they believe politicians are acting in the best interests of young people?

You can explore the key findings from the survey right now.

Then tune into Hack from 5:30pm Tuesday – Friday this week as we chat to young Australian’s about their perspectives and experiences.

Plus there’ll be more stories and data analysis on the triple j Hack website across the week.
