Sydney-based ghetto-dubsters Bootleg Rascal have just revealed the accompanying video for their new single ‘Mercy’ – shot and directed by Dan Hodgson at Sydney Props Studio in Marrickville NSW.

Captured in one take, the clip sees enigmatic frontman Carlos Lara explore a series of different scenes from a quick boxing bout to confrontation deep in the jungle. Following on from the antics of Jesus and the Devil arm wrestling and a tribute to the late Harambe, the video wraps with the whole cast breaking into dance.

Guitarist Jimmy Young describes the motivation behind the clip:

.

“The clip is a bit of a rarity in that it is actually a ‘one shot’ music video. And it truly is one full take, start to finish, no edits. We didn’t cheat! Because of this there’s definitely a couple of subtle imperfections in there if you know where to look, but they’re actually some of our favourite parts of the clip. We just loved the overall vibe of the final take we chose and when you’re going for a true ‘one shot’ clip it’s never going to be perfect. It’s a bit rough around the edges, just like us, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.” – JIMMY YOUNG

Since the release of ‘Mercy’, the track has been warmly received by triple j, community radio and worldwide tastemaker blogs – pushing the track up to #3 on the esteemed Hype Machine Now charts.

To celebrate the release of their forthcoming second album Anònimo (due 5 October), the band will once again hit the road on a seven date tour in October / November with performances in Sydney, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Belgrave and Melbourne.

‘Mercy’ music video is available to view via YouTube now.
