You may have seen them play Falls or Southbound Festival, perhaps you’ve heard of their new biography “Rockfarmers”, you might have even unknowingly eaten some fresh organic food from their French farm, either way The Inspector Cluzo are some of the hardest working artists in the world who, after releasing latest single “A Man Outstanding In His Field”, are set to release their 10th Anniversary album titled We The People Of The Soil on October 26th.

The Inspector Cluzo’s 6th album was produced by the king of analog recording, Vance Powell (multi-Grammy Award winner for his work with Jack White, White Stripes and Clutch). It’s the first album of their career that the group did not produce themselves.

Recorded live and mixed in 12 days – ‘Fast & Furious’ style — on 8-track tape in Vance’s studio in Nashville last September. The sound recordings were done in 4 days! – without a computer or digital technology – no analog reverbs – no ‘auto-tune’, or other modern tricks and manipulations because The Inspector Cluzo is a duo that has built their international reputation playing live all over the world – completely and naturally wild – no set list. Their music is as organic as the vegetables they grow on their farm.

Marianne Dissard, French singer and close friend who ran off to exile in Tucson (Arizona) for 20 years to  make albums produced by ‘(Les) Calexico’, adds her magnificent voice in a duet with Laurent on “The Best” – and the addition of strings for the first time on “No deal at the Crossroads”, which symbolically reinforces the groups refusal to sign a contract with major distributors / labels despite numerous proposals over the past 10 years. The photo on the album jacket is Miguel, Lou Casse’s (billy) goat – a super mower and a great alternative to herbicides. The photo was taken by Laurentx Etxemendi, the sound engineer, but it wasn’t meant to be on the album cover — it was supposed to be a photo of the Cluzos, which, in fact, appears on page 4, and it would have been the first time that they appeared on the cover of one of their albums. Unfortunately (or not), the charismatic appeal of Miguel decided otherwise.

They’re a group that controls everything from A to Z : they are their own manager – their own record label (Fuckthebassplayer), their own tour manager, professional organic farmers on their farm, Lou Casse, (www.loucasse.com) in the Gascony region in the southwest of France. With their double skills as musicians and farmers, they are financially independent, and are also able to produce most of the food that they eat. Two occupations that are really one when considered as the goal of the eminently political and militant movement ‘Act locally to think globally’.
