Melbourne’s soul-blues quartet, The Teskey Brothers, have announced a special performance at St Kilda’s Hotel Esplanade, on Thursday 22 November. The not-to-be-missed gig will act as The Gershwin Room’s unofficial christening before the seaside icon officially reopens its doors later this month.
Honouring that old school Motown sound and working it into something of their very own, The Teskey Brothers stunned many in 2017 with their gorgeous debut album Half Mile Harvest. A raw combination of soul and blues, the record has warmed the hearts of listeners everywhere. Just last month the band released a deluxe version of their critically acclaimed debut, featuring two brand new tracks including current single, ‘I Get Up’.
Following a hugely successful debut tour of Australia through July and August, The Teskey Brothers made their first international appearances in October this year with sold out headline shows in LA, New York and London. Onstage singer Josh Teskey’s smoked whiskey voice defies expectation while the band around him hold an irresistibly tight groove beneath heartfelt soulful melodies.
The Teskey Brothers will be supported by powerhouse vocalist and songwriter, Emilee South. Electrifying band in tow, South has been exploding with a distorted and raucous live show. In 2017, their EP ‘Motel’ was released with a bang and launched to a roaring, sold-out crowd at The Gasometer. Their new single, ‘Heartbreaker’ combining elements of psycho-surf and rock’n’roll, giving a taste of things to come on their debut album.
The Teskey Brothers performance heralds an exciting new music programme for ‘The Espy’, led by Venue Programme Manager, Shaun Adams. The Espy has always been, and will continue to be, the home of live music in St Kilda and Sand Hill Road will continue this tradition with three stages catering to the eclectic range of contemporary musical tastes.
Sand Hill Road will officially reopen the doors to The Espy later this month, restoring the iconic former grandeur and glory with a dynamic range of new dining, drinking and cultural experiences.
Further details around the opening of Hotel Esplanade, along with images of the venue, will be released shortly.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
