“It is rare to be both a new face and a veteran at 19, but such is the situation of Mahalia”
– The Times
“intimate, conversational style peppers her songs, which are like emotional diary entries, full of relatable crises, rejections, parental advice and daydreams” – The Guardian
“Her smile and vigour for life is contagious, the evening flowed like an evening with friends as opposed to a gig at one of London’s most famous venues” – The Independent

Rising singer-songwriter MAHALIA will play a pair of intimate shows on her first Australian visit, taking in Sydney’s The Lansdowne on Monday 7 January and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on Wednesday 9 January, in addition to already announced appearances at Falls Festival and Field Day 2019.
The UK soul-pop prodigy will bring songs from her acclaimed 2018 EP ‘SEASONS’ to local audiences, along with favourites from the acoustic-tinged 2016 debut ‘DIARY OF ME’. Detailing the relationship narrative like never before, Mahalia’s honeyed vocals soar over bubbling electronics in an unmistakably intoxicating fashion. Single ‘Surprise Me’ has garnered praise with a gorgeous live Vevo DSCVR performance, and her new music is lauded by The Line of Best Fit as “empowering”, ”sublime”, and “compelling”.
Signing to Atlantic Records at only thirteen, Mahalia has been writing songs since she was eight-years-old, her hypnotic early songs earning her legions of supporters. Global superstar Ed Sheeran was one such admirer – a tweet, duet video, and support slot rallying fans early in her career. Last year’s breakout single, ‘Sober‘, is an infectiously honest slice of R&B that recalls the likes of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, but is sprinkled with originality and pushed into the present day.
Mahalia has grown-up stunning audiences, maturing on stage before fans and critics. Her captivating live show has earned her praise the world over, and across countless sold-out international headline dates. The raw-but-refined emotion in her songs makes for a deeply personal set, interspersed with stories and admissions.
Mahalia’s sharp, emotive writing and unique brand of soul-pop now attracts over 1.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify, breakout single ‘Sober’ amassing 11.6 million streams, and performance on YouTube show ‘COLORS’ reaching over 20 million views. She has toured with Emelie Sandé, Ed Sheeran, Jorja Smith, and Rudimental, performing with the latter on Later with Jools Holland and on their record ‘WE THE GENERATION’.
Just revealed as NUMBER 1 on YouTube’s 2019 #UKOnesToWatch list, Mahalia is a rising star, who will impress in Australia’s most intimate venues. Deeply personal and sonically stirring, the artist will transition childhood praise to adulthood awe in her debut shows.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
