EWAH & The Vision Of Paradise are jetting out of hometown Hobart to tour the eastern seaboard performing in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane launching their first single Cannibals to be lifted from their anticipated 2019 release. Mixed by William “King Willy” Bowden, winner of a Grammy for his work with Gotye “Somebody That I Used To Know”. Cannibals was recorded at Head Gap Studios.
The band’s 2017 debut release, Everything Fades To Blue enjoyed national and international attention from heavy hitters including Jarvis Cocker’s Sunday Service on BBC Radio 6 (UK) and Henry Rollins on KCRW radio (USA). Meanwhile in Australia, it was Edge Radio (Hobart) album of the week and Top Ten Albums of the Week PBS (Melb), as well as reaching The Guardian’s top ten listing of Australia’s best underground releases and was longlisted for the Australian Music Prize. Single Walk The Night also picked up regular play on Double J.
Dave Faulkner of Hoodoo Gurus fame, also a fan, wrote in his The Saturday Paper article “Lead singer and guitarist EWAH is a captivating performer who plays a twangy semi-acoustic guitar that is steeped in swampy southern blues, reminding me of The Cramps’ Poison Ivy, or The Duchess, who played with Bo Diddley.”
Their music shifts between lightness and darkness, sundrenched and throwing dark shadows. One reviewer pitched their sound as “epic post-punk with a scope as wide as the Australian skyline.”
EWAH & The Vision Of Paradise have played festivals including Mofo, Party In The Paddock, A Festival Called Panama, Dark Mofo, BIGSOUND amongst others.
Don’t miss them as they tour the Eastern seaboard and unleash their latest single Cannibals at Old Bar Melb Sat 16 Feb, The Petersham Bowling Club Sydney on Sun 17 Feb, Greaser on Sat 2 March plus Sonic Sherpa Records on Sun 3 March in Brisbane.
