After thrilling crowds on their national headline tour last week to celebrate the release of their critically acclaimed album Tasmania via Spinning Top | Caroline, POND joined Ben and Liam in the triple j studio’s this morning to record their first ever Like A Version. The West Coast vagabonds performed new single Daisy, and wrapped a rendition of Madonna’s Ray of Light in a lavish prog-pop POND drenched package.
Tasmania landed the highest local debut on this weeks ARIA album chart at #15 and claimed the #2 position on the AIR Independent album chart. Their eighth studio album is a dejected meditation on planetary discord, water, machismo, shame, blame and responsibility, love, blood and empire, produced and mixed by Kevin Parker and POND. Featuring the aforementioned Daisy, recent single Sixteen Days and lead track Burnt Out Star, the LP is some kind of sister missive to their 2017 opus The Weather.
POND possess an ever-expanding performance resumé, having toured with Arctic Monkeys, MGMT and Flaming Lips. They stunned at premiere musical festivals around the world including Primavera, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds, The Governors Ball, South by Southwest, St Jerome’s Laneway, Splendour In The Grass and more, and have sold out countless venues around the globe from New York’s Bowery Ballroom to Paris’ La Gaite Lyrique and London’s O2 Forum. In the coming months, POND will travel to Europe to perform festival sets at Primavera in Spain, OYA in Norway and We The Green in France.
