The Beamish Brothers are two brothers from the town Toowoomba, Australia whose passion for music has taken them from jamming in their garage, to working with artists and labels from around the globe. Jeremy (19) and Ben (21) combine an authentic blend of two brothers harmonising with fresh songwriting ideas to craft their own signature style, sitting harmoniously between the worlds of folk, soul and pop.
In their first year pursuing music full-time, 2017 saw Ben and Jeremy take their music on a three-month tour of Spain and the US, performing their original songs to an ever-growing fanbase. Since arriving back, The Beamish Brothers have been busy collaborating with international producers, attracting the attention of labels; Knight Vision, Chill Your Mind, Mr Revillz, Czech Vibes Sound, LoudKult and Tipsy Records records to whom they have signed songs. In less than a year, their original music has received over 4 million streams on Spotify alone, now featuring in several Spotify Official playlists.
Most recently, they took their music to the National Folk Festival in Canberra, performing on the main stage to over 3000 people as well as several other gigs over the weekend. During the festival, they won the “2018 Young Musicians” award. Amidst new collaborations and playing at festivals, The Beamish Boys have also just embarked upon their first ever Australian tour, including a sold out show in Brisbane and 9 shows along the East Coast.

Have you always jammed together? When did you both know you wanted to take music-making seriously?
We probably started jamming together at the start of high school and uploading the occasional cheesy YouTube cover or Vine video! As we both started writing original music and getting a good response from friends and family, we knew we wanted to pursue it seriously.
What kind of music did you grow up on? What artists inspired you and which do you still look to now for ideas?
Ironically our parents (an opera singer and a jingle-writer) never really played us much music growing up. The only music that we really heard on a regular basis was what they happened to be working on. What inspired us was always what we could create ourselves.
How would you describe your sound?
It’s alternative pop music which focuses on soulful vocals and honest story-telling.
You are set to release your debut track, “Kills Me Every Time,” on April 5th. How would you describe the song?
Kills Me Every Time features Ben’s acoustic guitar and our vocals front and centre but with a funky beat and bass in the production. It’s very danceable but deliberately ambiguous as to whether it’s sad or happy.
What inspired the track?
The song was inspired by a relationship which was constantly swinging back and forth from exciting to unhealthy. It’s about how something which feels amazing can still be embedded with toxicity.

Any EP or Album currently in development?
Yes, an EP is underway! We’re so excited for it to finally come out.
What was it like to perform at the National Folk Festival in Canberra?
It felt like stepping onto another planet. The vibe was incomparable and we were overwhelmed at how encouraging and open the crowds were to music which wasn’t conventional ‘folk’.
What are your plans for 2019?
New music and touring!
Who are your major music inspirations?
We both look to an eclectic mix of artists such as George Michael, Daniel Caesar, Stevie Wonder, H.E.R., Lorde, Hozier and Dylan Joel for inspiration.
If you could perform onstage with any musician, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Such a hard question! I think it’d be amazing to add three part harmonies on stage with Adele.
Do you have any longer-term goals or aspirations as a duo?
Our goals are to continue to grow as artists and push our creative boundaries.
Finally, a few questions for some quick answers –
