Jacob Lee has released the video for his first new track of 2019, Conscience (April 5 – Philosophical Records, video release April 15), the title track from the independent musician’s second album due out later this year. It follows the success of his 2018 debut album, Philosophy, which helped Lee grow his audience to over 1.35 Million monthly listeners on Spotify, and over 120 Million streams across all platforms.

Lee describes Conscience as a “deep personal journey to the centre of his thoughts” and “a musical tapestry of contemplation, observation, questioning and hope.” Audio samples were gathered as voice-memos (one of yak bells recorded in the region around Mt Everest) and brought to the artist’s studio in Australia where they combine to create the unique atmosphere of Conscience.

Co-directed by Jacob Lee and filmmaker, Kevin Bar, the stunning music video was shot across a range of locations in Adelaide, South Australia and on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The video portrays a sense of transportation into a world where Jacob’s albums are written works. A library suggests the vastness of all that’s still to be read, and that Lee’s creativity isn’t always his but that an external power provides the framework.

Short glimpses of a maze suggest an element of Lee’s work where his music and the accompanying videos have episodic qualities with elements which might return later in a series allowing his fans to join together the story which Jacob is weaving before their ears and eyes.

Based in Queensland, Jacob Lee has grown a global audience over the last few years, completely under the radar of mainstream press or music industry. His soaring voice, and spiritually open lyrics have seen him amass over 320,000 subscribers on YouTube. Independently released EP’s Sine Qua Non (2016) and Clarity (2017) both helped him climb to a total of over 60 million Spotify streams.  Lee recently completed his first headline tour of the UK and Europe, with shows selling out within days of announcement, and demand to upgrade to larger venues.

2019 will see Lee release another 10 tracks from Conscience until the album is fully revealed, as well as touring to North and South America, Asia and back to the UK and Europe.
