When he released ‘P()L4R’ last month, THE KITE STRING TANGLE gave us an indication of the new musical direction he is taking; and today he cements that new sound and look with the accompanying video. Dark and visually hypnotising, the video is embroidered with effects to transport the viewer to a new THE KITE STRING TANGLE world; one which has been widely hailed as a step forward in his sound.
Teaming up with Brisbane production house Pixel Frame, Harley had a strong vision for the video and says;
.
“This video was important for me because I really wanted it to set the tone for the whole next body of work.” Creating a world akin to a ‘secret-society’, the clip incorporates elements of the artwork and the new live show. Harley continues, “there’s a lot of thought that went into the way the lighting will be used and we wanted that to translate in the clip. I definitely wanted the clip to accentuate the darker direction of the music and I think Pixel Frame have done a really great job in achieving that”.

The Melbourne leg of his limited tour run down the East Coast has already sold out; with Sydney and Brisbane not far behind. Today, we can announce that the main support for the special one-off shows is Reynier, who Danny Harley (aka THE KITE STRING TANGLE) recently discovered and promptly signed to his carefully curated label Exist. Recordings.
The opening slots on the tour all comprise of artists who have released or will be releasing tracks on Exist. Exclusives VOL001; a project started this year by Harley which aims to release a track every few weeks from an unsigned electronic artist to make up a volume of music that showcases some of the burgeoning talent in the bedroom producer and singer/songwriter space in Australia. Lamalo will be gracing the stage in Sydney; Borderland State will kick things off in Brisbane; and getting the crowd into the zone in Melbourne is Elkkle.

Following the special shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane; THE KITE STRING TANGLE will be heading to Berlin to take up the Grant McLennan Fellowship which he was awarded in 2018.
It’s been a busy couple of years for the Brisbane producer. The release of his debut self-titled album in 2017 saw him nominated for an ARIA award; two national headline tours; much-talked about sets at Splendour in the Grass and FOMO festivals; amongst others. Then in 2018, he released single ‘Give It Time’; won a Queensland Music Award; and played captivating sets at local and international festivals. Then, there was also the release of mini album ‘The Kite String Tangle Presents: In A Desperate Moment’ which resulted in two sold out shows with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane. All this came alongside the announcement of his own record label Exist. Recordings; which has put out well received releases from Brisbane producer Golden Vessel and sibling duo Lastlings.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
