“Blending elements of groove, funk, disco and electro in a way that we haven’t seen since the halcyon days of Ed Banger Records, there’s a lot to love about their sound.” – PileRats

Electronic duo Kayex released their groovy new single “Warrior Games” last Friday, 24th May 2019. Co-written and produced by Lionel Towers (Gypsy & The Cat), and mastered by Mike March (Calvin Harris, Chemical Brothers), “Warrior Games” radiates warmth and originality. The track has a timeless, fluid groove, and its amalgamation of various genres – from indie-pop to funk electronic to ambient – gives it an addictively unique quality.
From school friends in Perth, to studio partners in Sydney, KAYEX’s members Palassi Kailis and Tom Derickx combine both electronic samples and live instrumentation in a way that speaks to the broadening tastes of today’s pop scene.
The duo debuted their live show at Sydney’s Listen Out Festival, and in late 2018 won the triple j Unearthed competition that allowed them to perform at Sydney’s Field Day Festival on New Year’s Day 2019. They also supported SG Lewis on his national Australian tour in 2018, and Crooked Colours on their national Australian tour.
Drawing from inspirations such as Daft Punk, Kanye West and Chance the Rapper, there is no doubt that KAYEX will continue to push boundaries in 2019.

.
Bee Gees – Night Fever
The flow in the chorus and the way its sung we love. Also, the funk style guitars played a role in how we built our guitars and some of the background colours in Warrior Games. The general feel of this track we kept coming back to.
.
Talking Heads – This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)
The trademark trumpet sound which everyone knows this track for inspired the high pitched sample we built for Warrior Games. We wanted to make something recognisable that would stick in peoples minds. Although we didn’t take the pitch bending as far in our track as in this, it still played a role throughout the making of Warrior Games and there are touches within for the acute listener.
.
Giorgio Moroder – Together in Electric Dreams
We were listening to Giorgio’s entire catalogue actually, but kept coming back to this track in particular. The backing vocals in the chorus had that euphoric energy that makes you feel weightless! Proper summertime festival vies.
.
Daft Punk – Veridis Quo
The simplicity of the drums in this track we love. There were certain sounds in particular we drew from when designing the percussion for Warrior Games. The chord progressions in this track really played a role in the early stages of production.
.
Warren G – Regulate
Had to mention this song as it was the first one we listened to as the idea of Warrior Games was born. Its such a great song and especially the melodic vocal delivery. Funnily enough, we kept coming back to it when we were in the lyric writing stage and some interesting ideas developed.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
