Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin’s co-headline tour was in Adelaide Friday night for a massive show at Lion Arts Factory. Supported by Australian touring band Diamond Construct and local Adelaide band Relapse. The headlining bands arrived in Adelaide Friday morning for their second-to-last Australian show of the tour. With a massive crowd to start the night, fans were eager to see the heavy bands play.

Local Adelaide band, Relapse played first with this being their biggest gig to date. Being new to the scene, they released their EP The Vice earlier this year and it has received amazing feedback from fans. Four piece band consisting of vocalist Ethan, Brad on drums, guitarists Sidney and Jacob and bassist Andrew. Defining themselves as a heavy grooves band, they definitely showed the crowd an awesome time on Friday night! The crowd were all head banging along to their tunes. They even had some fans yelling along to their new songs. Ethan finished the final breakdown with the audience at the barrier as the crowd continued moshing.

New South Wales progressive metal band Diamond Construct took the stage next. Consisting of brothers Kynan and Braden alongside friends Adam and Alex. They released their debut self titled album in May this year after only forming as a band last year. The whole band was jumping and whipping their hair around, showing the crowd a good time. Vocalist, Kynan, asked everyone to bounce with him so the audience jumped along to their heavy songs. Diamond Construct asked everyone to put their hands up as the lights went on the audience before finishing their set with a final song. There was a massive circle pit for this last song, then Kynan high-fived the barrier fans before the band left the stage.

The crowd grew since the last two bands, ready for co-headline band Born of Osiris. The five piece American progressive metal core band, formed in 2003, recently released their latest album The Stimulation. Drummer with double guitarists and double vocalists embraced the stage ready for their electronic hardcore songs. The whole room was head banging along to their heavy setlist. Drummer, Cameron Losch, bashed away on the kit with a super heavy double kick throughout the set. Joe Buras jumped to the barrier to yell along with the fans. The audience had two horns in the air ready for the bands next song. The crowd screamed the words along to Born of Osiris’ songs. The first crowd surfer came out as the room was moshing along to their set. Half the band members were pressured by the crowd into doing shoeys before starting their final song. They finished with an oldie before leaving the stage ready for Chelsea Grin.

Four piece death core band, Chelsea Grin from Salt Lake City played last for the night. Named after the infamous torture manoeuvre ‘Glasgow smile’ or Chelsea Grin. They generally combine their hardcore death metal sounds and grind core speeds to make the same damage as the jaw split of a Glasgow smile. The crowd sang along to Bohemian Rhapsody before the band started as they were having some technical difficulties. The band came out and videoed the audience as the light came up in the room. After an additional 25 minute wait, Chelsea Grin finally walked on the stage as the crowd cheered loudly and the walls started vibrated as they played.

‘Sorry for the wait, I wanna see every pair of fucking horns in the room’Tom Barber.

The heavy double kick streamed through the room as the band played to an almost sold out show. The room prepared for a wall of death during the breakdown of a song, as their heavy tunes followed with even more moshing than the other bands. Everyone gave it up for guitarist Stephen Ritishauser because he’s been sick all week (shitting his pants, as his bandmates descirbed).

Horns flew up in the air, head banging continued, no one in that room wanted the night to end. Another circle pit and more crowd surfing as Chelsea Grin continued through their set. It was definitely worth the additional wait for the final headline band, they finished with an awesome set which the crowd all seemed to love!
