Following on from their critically praised single ‘They’re Playing My Song’, Sydney-based electro-pop duo MONATOMIC have returned with bittersweet pop-banger ‘One More Chance’ – produced and recorded by the band at their home studio.

‘One More Chance’ showcases MONATOMIC at their power-pop best, mixing beautifully plucked acoustic guitars and swirling soundscape synths. This breaks into a vast upbeat chorus topped off by the heart-breaking angelic vocals from lead singer Steffan Lazar.

Lazar talks about the meaning behind ‘One More Chance’: “It’s that hope (or false hope), that you might be able to return to how things were with someone you loved. It’s being stuck in the past with rose tinted glasses while forgetting why you had broken up in the first place. Being in that place can fuel obsession, but it’s not healthy and it won’t ever be the same again. I’ve felt it, I’m sure everyone who has loved and lost has gone through it. However, even if I was given that one last chance, let’s be honest, I probably would’ve fucked it up”.

Previous single ‘They’re Playing My Song’ was supported by triple j and triple j Unearthed, with tastemaker support from Disco Naïveté (BEL), Pilerats, Savage Thrills and Little Indie Blogs(UK). To coincide with the release, the band will perform at a launch party at The Lord Gladstone with AKA Lui in Sydney.

Lazar and fellow band member, Tarran Webster, are childhood friends who grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The group have written and recorded songs around the world, from the sunny Byron Hinterlands, Australia to the winter land of Northern Ontario, Canada and the starry Hollywood Hills in the United States.

MONATOMIC have also performed their music live in their pyjamas for Woody Harrelson.

In the coming weeks MONATOMIC will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘One More Chance’.

Before your brain has time to process a single word of Jarrah McCleary’s lyrics, you’re already mesmerised by a vocal tone sorrowful enough to bring a tear to your eye. His voice almost sounds like a male version of London Grammar’s Hannah Reid (now there’s a collaboration we’d like to hear).

Trust us, just watch Miley’s episode and you’ll be bobbing along to this one in no time.

We‘vebeen slow with Lime Cordiale but there last few tracks have made us fall totally in love with them. We recently saw them live, and honestly, they are one of those few bands who somehow are evenBETTER on the stage than they are in the studio. That’s super rare, and impressive. Fantastic performers and melodic tunes. Love this catchy track.
