Praise for Vancouver Sleep Clinic:

“Here’s hoping there’s plenty more where [‘Mercy’] came from.” – Complex

“Standing at the intersection of chillingly ambient and deeply emotive, [‘Closure’] also doubles as Bettinson’s promise to weather the storm and re-enter the music world full force.” – Pigeons & Planes

“Heavenly and harmonious layers are woven together in a cohesive and unassuming fashion, often united by a steadying though subtle pulse heard on nearly every song.” – Billboard

“dreamy ambience” – The Line of Best Fit

“[‘Vixen’ has] an ambient groove that finds the type of balance between R&B and folk…Though its skittering beat and airy production lean closer to  modern R&B, gentle acoustics throughout keep it all very grounded.” – Consequence of Sound

“calling his music ‘ethereal’ is not nearly enough. With the amount of energy and emotion that’s exuded from his efforts, we need more intense adjectives to describe his sound, and, to be honest, there’s never going to be enough to accurately and justifiably detail what he creates.” – Hilly Dilly

One of Australia’s essential voices in ambient music, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, is set to return in 2019 with a transcendent new album, ‘Onwards to Zion’, set to be released on 18th October. To sweeten the deal, the artist has revealed the first track from the album, an ethereal ballad called “Bad Dream”.

Infused with the signature moody production and ethereal vocals that have garnered Vancouver Sleep Clinic their success so far, “Bad Dream” also hints at a new, more acoustic direction taken with the upcoming album.

The single is accompanied by a beautiful music video, premiered by Complex overnight. Filled with warm colours, contrasts of light and shade, trippy visuals and eerie settings, the storyline of the video echoes the sentiment of the song’s key refrain, “it’s like I’m living in a bad dream”.

As a director, Max Galassi states, “’Bad Dream’” conveys a journey into the unknown – playing with ideas from the subconscious; symbols and images that we only experience in our dreams. All this, under the pretence of a strange ‘Sleep Clinic’.”

Tim Bettinson’s sophomore album ‘Onwards to Zion’, coming in October this year, was created while separated from the rest of the world, in the serene setting of the Bali hillsides that overlook the ocean. Here, removed from ordinary life, with a basic set-up of guitars, drums and a few synths, the young artist Tim Bettinson found himself creating music in a space that welcomed creativity and freedom.

The sounds and lyrics threaded throughout ‘Onwards To Zion’, signal Bettinson coming full circle with newfound clarity and a sense of purpose. The result is a modern-day pilgrimage, reflecting Bettinson’s navigation through the highs and lows of this intense world, while trying to stay true to his faith and purpose.
