Today Vera Blue shares her incredible video for ‘The Way That You Love Me’, directed by Benn Jae (Boy & Bear, The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy). Filmed in Melbourne at ‘the facility’ big warehouse, we get to see a darker side of Vera Blue. Watch Here.
A departure from Vera Blue’s usual work, the video brings a maturity and sexuality we haven’t seen from her before. “The Way That You Love Me” has a driving beat that undeniably points to a stunning visual story told by dance.
Celia says, “When I was writing this song I had a vision of the video already, wanting a really strong, tough and dark video that incorporated lots of dancers. I grew up dancing so it was really nice to be able to express the feelings of this song with beautiful strong dancers and push my own boundaries a little. I loved working with so many different characters and personas in this video.”
Director Benn Jae, who is slightly obsessed with the darker tones of life, says: ‘When hearing the song, I immediately felt it had a nod to Madonna’s earlier work, and was instantly inspired to explore the early 90’s genre clips, but with a millennium edge.’
Fresh from jumping on stage with Flume at Lollapalooza, Osheaga and 2x sold out Red Rocks shows this week, Vera Blue will be touring with him as part of his worldwide tour which will include the U.S, UK and Asia. Next month will see Vera Blue back in Australia to embark on her massive regional tour, which will also include the main cities of Perth, Adelaide and Hobart.
‘The Way You Love Me’ premiered on triple j and is now added to rotation. The song already has over one million streams, with Vera Blue’s music reaching over 160 million streams to date.
