On Monday we kicked off triple j Porn Week with Hack and The Hook Up taking a look at the viewing habits of triple j listeners.
As part of triple j’s 2019 What’s Up In Your World survey, Hack dissected whether it’s helpful to learn from porn, or damaging for young people to be exposed to it.
Subsequently, Veronica & Lewis got talking about their own sex ed and realised that much of the rap music they listened to has provided a lot of sex-related misinformation.
“I was listening to this Rich Brian album on the weekend, thinking that if all you learnt about sex was through hip hop lyrics, you’d be very confused,” says Lewis. “Very confused.”
It wasn’t long before the triple j text line blew up with savage burns like listener Gemma claiming that she “can’t imagine Lewis having sex full stop”.
But Boat from Newy backed Lewis’ sexual prowess, adding “Yeah Lewis, this dorky, virgin vibe you’re putting out…I don’t buy it, mate. I don’t buy it one bit. I reckon you should write a rap and show the ladies what you’ve got.”
With the confidence of having already successfully written one rap song, Lewis promised “I’m gonna prove I know heaps about doing it, thanks to everything I’ve learnt from hip hop.”
So, thanks to the rap gods and self-proclaimed Sexperts Veronica & Lewis, ‘Sex Flex: A Rap Guide to Fornication’ now exists.
Want some actual sex education for real though?
Keep listening to Hack and The Hook Up all this week as we go to the set of an ethical porn shoot, interrogate the ethics of different kinds of porn, learn why you shouldn’t be ashamed of the porn you watch, hear from people who say it’s been great for their sex life, and people who think they’re watching too much porn.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
