Eclectic R&B chameleon Berhana has unveiled details of his anticipated debut album, HAN – due 18th October via EQT Recordings / Caroline Australia – alongside a downbeat, sparse ode to love, “I Been”, featuring South Korean R&B and hip-hop singer Crush.
“Tell me what you’re feeling,” Berhana sings over the consistent, slow drone of electric keys, beckoning the listener to meditate on just how hard it can be to be emotionally direct.

HAN is a psychedelic collage of R&B tracks peppered with an electronic flourish. A promising collection of songs from a rising talent that’s moved relatively under-the-radar, Berhana’s debut is a soulful dance fantasia filled with fast-paced walls of sound and funktronic reflections of desire.
The new track follows second single “Lucky Strike,” which Billboard calls “a soul-infused trip, combining the heart of Frank Ocean’s lyrics with the echoey, psychedelic sound of Tame Impala” and lead single “Health Food,” described by Complex as a swirl of “psychedelia, disco, and funk influences.” Its accompanying music video calls to mind the likes of David Lynch and pulls from Berhana’s background as a film student at The New School.
Berhana has been making waves since dropping his self-titled debut EP in 2016. The Atlanta-born musician has received endorsements for “breezy, soulful” (HYPEBEAST) and smartly-written songs that have gotten the attention of the likes of Janet Hubert and Donald Glover. His song “Grey Luh” was featured on Glover’s show Atlanta. Berhana has played Pitchfork Festival, with his unique live blend of funkadelia garnering comparisons to Miguel, Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, and Anderson Paak. Set to make a huge splash for R&B and funk fans alike, Berhana proves himself “one to watch” (Variance).
