Music – Local Acts

The Yonder 2019 line-up will showcase an impressive variety of much-loved Queensland talents, including Tijuana Cartel, Asha Jeffries, Pocketlove, Cigany Weaver, Great Sage, Desmond Cheese, Feelsclub, Felivand and The Jensens. Yonder supports the incredible talents of emerging local artists like Sycco, who will be gifting us with her smooth vocals paired with psychedelic jazz undertones.

Continuing the list of fantastic local talent is Jaguar Jonze. With Taiwanese, Japanese and Australian heritage, Jaguar Jonze creates an explosion of cultures with every note. Her raw emotion and dynamic sound are bound to overwhelm your senses.

.

Interstate Acts

In addition to the local talent, the Yonder stages will be graced with sounds from across Australia. One of these amazing interstate talents is imbi the girl, who has taken over the Sydney music scene and is moving up the coast to expand our minds with neo-soul energy and zealous poetry, which is sure to amaze this November.

The program also features the musical onslaught of Party Dozen (Sydney), a duo who blend powerful saxophone and percussion to give their audience a truly unique performance. On the other end of the spectrum, The Dead Maggies (Tasmania) describe their sound as “convict punk” – with a unique combination of heavy strings and gang vocals, the band relay the dark, tempestuous and oppressed history of Tasmania.

.

Overseas Acts

Yonder is proud to welcome international artists to the Mary Valley this November. Coming straight from the Big Apple itself, Fascinator (New York City) is the psychedelic electronic project of Children Collide frontman, Johnny Mackay. His latest album, Water Sign, marks the second Fascinator release under the Spinning Top Music umbrella (POND, Tame Impala, Nicholas Allbrook). Fascinator embodies all the psychedelia and unpredictability Spinning Top alumni are known for. Strap yourselves in, because Fascinator is going to be taking punters on a weird, wonderful journey.

Kenta Hayashi is a Japanese singer-songwriter who takes the term ‘one man band’ to the next level, creating an orchestra of sound by layering vocals, guitar, effects and percussion within his loop pedal. The result is a fusion of psychedelic journeys; an overtone of harmonies on a rhythmic foundation.

.

Electronic Program

Yonder also boasts an impressive electronic line-up, providing punters with a lush dance floor by the water all weekend. Featuring some of the DJs who have helped carve Brisbane’s emerging dance scene over the years, from local labels such as A Love Supreme and Pocketmoth, to disc jockeys who are influencing further flung cities across the world, like Alex Intas of Brownswood Recordings and Worldwide FM and Carlo Xavier of Analog Africa. A selection of up-and-coming live electronic acts will break-out at Yonder, including Brisbane warehouse veterans Penelope Two Five and synthwave duo Dream Coast.

.
