Bursting with live music, local art, markets, food trucks and activations, A Day For The Beaches is a brand new community event taking over Narrabeen’s Rat Park on Saturday 16 November. Curated by Northern Beaches natives Ocean Alley who are setting out to give something back to their hometown, the full day, all ages, drug and alcohol free event will raise money and awareness for local charities One Eighty and Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

Bringing their widely acclaimed live show back to a beaches crowd are surf-rockers Ocean Alley, leading the live music component of the event after standout performances at Splendour In The Grass and One Night Stand, and selling out headline shows across UK, US, Canada, Europe and New Zealand. Joining the lineup in a celebration of the thriving, local Northern Beaches music scene are rising rockers Dear Seattle, bluesy groove quintet Eagle Eye Jones and indie-rock group Stumps. Rounding out the bill are psychedelic five-piece Liquid Time, alt-rockers The Brights, grungy garage-punk outfit Monkey Knife Fight and indie beach quartet BUTTERBOX.

To coincide with the announcement, Ocean Alley are proud to reveal they are ambassadors of local charity One Eighty, a grassroots organisation created by young people, for young people, passionate about empowering communities to make meaningful contributions towards the prevention of youth suicide. Proceeds raised from ticket sales will allow One Eighty to continue operating their Open Up sessions and other programs across the Northern Beaches, and additional funding will assist in rolling out sessions nationally in the future.

Of the ambassadorship, One Eighty Chairperson Samantha Callender said “We are excited to be partnering with Ocean Alley and are humbled to have their support. With their help we hope that we can inspire young people all over the country to educate themselves about mental health; to not only feel like they can reach out for help when they need it, but to also know where to find help; and additionally to feel equipped with the knowledge and skills to support their friends.”

Continuing their longstanding association with Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) – an organisation that raises funds for essential equipment, therapies and research for people who are diagnosed with cerebral palsy – Ocean Alley are proud to again team up with CPA to help make a difference in the lives of people living with this physical disability. In 2018, the band donated $2 from ticket sales after two Sydney shows and launched a campaign encouraging donations from friends and fans, which saw them raise $20,000 for the charity.

An all ages, drug and alcohol free event for everyone, A Day For The Beaches is put on by Northern Beaches locals to celebrate the Northern Beaches community, encouraging people from within the region and beyond to get involved and connected with artists, businesses and performers from the area. Located 500m from North Narrabeen Beach and under one hour from Sydney’s CBD on the B-Line, the event has worked closely with Northern Beaches Council to make the day possible and engage local groups and organisations who provide incredible support and services for the wider community.
