Island Records Australia congratulate their incredible artists nominated today at the 2019 ARIA Awards Season Launch. On what has been a brilliant 12 months for the leading Australian music label, Adrian Eagle, Baker Boy, Briggs, Dean Lewis, Matt Corby, Tame Impala and Adelaide trio Hilltop Hoods were recognized with ARIA Award nominations over a cross section of categories with Dann Hume picking up Producer of The year award for Matt Corby’s album Rainbow Valley.

It has been an astounding year for the Hilltop Hoods and their ARIA #1 Album The Great Expanse. Nominated for a staggering 7 awards, including Best Group, Best Hip-Hop Release, Plutonic Lab for Engineer of the Year, Song Of The Year for double platinum ‘Leave Me Lonely’, Best Video for double platinum ‘Exit Sign’ feat Ecca Vandal, their 8th album was also nominated for the highest award, the Album Of The Year. When The Great Expanse debuted #1 on the ARIA Album Chart it took the bands total of #1 Albums to an incredible 6, which is an ARIA record for the most #1 albums by an Australian band. The record also became the fifth consecutive album by the trio to debut #1 on the ARIA Album Chart. 2019 also saw the Hoods reach 1 million albums sold in Australia, as well as playing to over 80,000 fans at sold-out Arenas across the country on their The Great Expanse World Tour and playing the main support to over 300,000 fans on Eminem’s Rapture Tour. It is no surprise that Hilltop Hoods have been recognized for the Best Live Act award.

Dean Lewis underlines his enormous local and global success with 4 nominations including Best Male,Song of the Year, Best Pop Release and Album Of The Year for his ARIA #1 debut album A Place We Knew. With over 2 billion global artist streams to his name, Dean’s first album continues to achieve huge single sales, global chart-topping achievements and sold-out international and Australian tours. A Place We Knew has given us hit singles, the multi-platinum selling ‘Waves’, the global smash hit ‘Be Alright’, platinum selling ‘Stay Awake’ and this year’s Song Of The Year nominated double-platinum ‘7 Minutes’. The album debuted #1 in Australia, #18 on the Billboard Top 200 in the USA, as well as Top 5 Billboard Pop Album and #1 iTunes Singer/Songwriter Album Charts.  Around the rest of the world the album hit Top 10 in New Zealand (#7), Top 20 in Switzerland (#11), Canada (#15) and Ireland (#20) and Top 30 in Norway (#25), Belgium (#30), Netherlands (#21) and Top 40 in Germany (#32), Sweden (#37) and the UK (#37). Dean who is currently in North America playing sold out shows on his global album tour.

Matt Corby has had an incredible 12 months, topping off today with his 3 nominations for the critically acclaimed second album Rainbow Valley – Best Male Artist, Best Soul/RnB Album and Producer Of The Year for Dann Hume. Debuting #4 on the ARIA Album Charts, Rainbow Valley received glowing reviews across the country and spawned singles ‘Ordinary Life’, ‘All Fired Up’, ‘All That I See’ and ‘Miracle Love’ which took out the 2019 Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Award.  The triple j featured album was supported by a global tour which Matt capped off with a mesmerizing set at this year’s Splendour In The Grass Festival.

First time nominee Baker Boy has had a killer of a year with the release of a string of singles, videos, festival appearances and sold out shows across the country. The Young Australian Of the Year 2019 can now add 3 nominations to his name – Best Live Act, Best Hip Hop Release and Best Video for single ‘Cool As Hell’ which was written with Thundamentals and writer/producer Carl Dimataga.

Global sensation, Tame Impala received two nominations for the release of ‘Patience’. As Kevin Parker gears up to release more new material, the ARIA Award winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer was nominated for Engineer Of The Year and Producer Of The Year.

Newly signed Adrian Eagle has gone from singing covers and writing his own music in inner city Adelaide to playing festival main stages and arenas in a few short years. Today his single ‘A.O.K’ has been nominated for Best Soul/RnB Release.  Adrian Eagle’s guest appearance on the legendary Hilltop Hoods single Clark Griswold claimed him his first ARIA Award last year.

Powerhouse rapper and Australian Hip Hop pioneer Briggs is nominated for his first new solo material on Island Records Australia. Nominated for Best Video for single ‘Life Is Incredible (feat. Greg Holden)’, the all-star Indigenous video saw Briggs call upon his dearest friends including footy greats Adam Goodes, Michael O’Loughlin and George Rose, prolific playwright Nakkiah Lui and actor Shari Sebbens (Sapphires) to appear in the clip.
