Praise for BAD PONY

“Adrenaline-fuelled, raucous and executed with controlled power, Bad Pony’s live set is as indeliable as their songs: infectious and satisfyingly polished.” – The Industry Observer

“Balancing grit with glam, the in-ya-face pop-electro confidence is built from a dominant – yet relatively sparse – grinding, mechanical rhythm, that bumps up against a more reflective side (“I’m sick of running out of time”), resembling an introspective nature that’s a far better fit for vocalist Jarred Young’s soulful tone.” Rolling Stone

“Sydney’s Bad Pony look like they may be next in line to break out.” SXSW

Sydney’s Bad Pony are back and they’re loud. Brandishing a killer new single, ‘Villain’, the five-piece have re-emerged with a refined edge that is bound to have fans excited for what 2020 holds. Having spent 2019 writing and in a deep creative groove, Bad Pony’s new offering is strong and vibrant – the perfect way for the band to shift back into high gear on the live front. Announcing new tour dates for January and February, the band are going to be back on a stage near you very, very soon.

STREAM/BUY

Recording ‘Villain’ out in Pokolbin in regional NSW, the single saw production handled by Bad Pony and Sam Thomlinson before being sent to Studios 301 in Sydney for mastering with Leon Zervos (The Jungle Giants, Troye Sivan, Amy Shark). Content-wise, ‘Villain’ comes inspired by the struggles and darkness observed by songwriter Jarred Young through life in Melbourne.

“‘Villain’ is an existentialist walk down Grey St. in St.Kilda. It’s a street renowned for night walkers, homelessness and drugs. I used to go through there at 5:30am in the morning every day to get to work and encountered people with some pretty serious drug and mental health problems. The song is about those people who are too often wrongly villainised.” Bad Pony

Punchy, guitar heavy and melodically strong, ‘Villain’ is a snapshot of Bad Pony’s undeniable passion for the grit and chaotic music that has won them fans in Australia and abroad over the last few years. 2018 proving to be one of the band’s biggest years yet, Bad Pony won praise at SXSW, and impressed at Australian Music Week in the same year. The music the band have been making in the interim speaks to their creative growth as a band, and the gnarl that still exists within their artistry.

Bad Pony’s Australian tour dates are set to re-introduce the element of the band’s musicality that made them one of Sydney’s most exciting exports in the last handful of years. They’re naturals on stage and with their brand of rock and roll primed for release, the new era of Bad Pony is well and truly here.
