Today Australian-owned music distribution company GYROstream announces that it now offers distribution to TikTok – the internet’s leading destination for short-form videos.
It’s the app that launched some of 2019’s most viral hits – where Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ found its initial audience before spending 19 weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100. It’s also the app that enabled Tones and I to spark a viral dance challenge set to ‘Dance Monkey’, a track that has since been used in over 1.9 million TikToks. With approximately 800 million users, TikTok has established itself as a viral social media app that doubles as a powerful marketing tool for musicians.
TikTok gives independent artists the opportunity to be heard by the millions who enjoy the platform. Once a release is distributed to TikTok, any of its 800 million users can find the track through the service’s ‘Discover’ playlist and ‘Explore Page’ and use it as the backing-track for their 15-second video. TikTok also facilitates direct audience engagement by encouraging followers to take-part in unique challenges or record duet videos with one-another.
With an estimated 1.6 billion monthly video views in Australia and New Zealand alone, TikTok will provide artists who distribute through GYROstream the ability to expand their audience and encourage the creation of unique and exciting content.
GYROstream has also recently added distribution partnerships with Nightlife Music, Stellar Entertainment (Inflight Services), and Kanjian (delivering to hundreds of platforms in China, SE Asia and Korea).
