STUART FRASER
and
GREEDY SMITH

It has been a very sad couple of days for Australian music, with the loss of two of our greatest musicians. On Saturday night much loved guitarist Stuart Fraser lost his long battle with lung cancer. Stuart, known as Chet to his many friends, was a founding member of Noiseworks, and long time guitarist for John Farnham. He also played with the likes of Olivia Newton John, Kylie Minogue, and Jimmy Barnes. He was highly regarded and respected by his peers, and much loved by his fans, for whom he had endless time. Chet was a true gentleman, and a beautiful soul.

While we were still coming to terms with one great loss, news filtered through on Tuesday morning of the sudden death of Andrew “Greedy” Smith. An icon of the Australian music industry, Greedy Smith was a founding member, co-songwriter, and lead singer of 80’s pop group Mental As Anything. Greedy penned many hits, including Too Many Times, He’s Just No Good For You, and the band’s biggest hit, Live It Up. Much loved by all who knew him, Greedy was known for his upbeat character and friendly, happy demeanour. Only five weeks ago, Greedy and fellow Mentals founding member, Martin Plaza, were inducted into the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
We here at AMNplify are deeply saddened by the loss of these two legendary Australian musicians, and pass our sincere condolences on to their families, friends, and fans. Vale Chet and Greedy.

AMNPLIFY – DB
I have been photographing artists for close to 15 years, including live shows & photo-shoots. I started off shooting local bands at the Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney where a friend of mine organised a monthly band night of eclectic musicians & styles. I am extremely passionate about supporting local artists whenever I can to give them a platform to promote their efforts – whether it is a review, interview, music video or photographs. For me, it doesn’t matter if the band is playing in a pub or a stadium, I always bring my professional attitude, respect for others & a keen eye for capturing an unique shot.
