To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Peking Duk’s children’s book DJ Duks, the duo are proud to announce their partnership with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) along with BMG.

Aside from their success on the charts and stage, including seven platinum certified singles, two ARIA Awards, three APRA Awards and countless sold-out tours and big festivals slots, in 2018 the Peking Duk boys Adam and Reuben flexed their creative muscles to create the children’s book DJ Duks, a cautionary tale of two little ducks with big dreams of fame, fortune and music industry success.

After promoting the book on the 2018 ARIA Awards red carpet and presenting Best Children’s Album, doing a live reading of the book at St Kilda Festival and appearing on The Project, KIIS 106.5 and Kinderling Kids Radio, the Duks have partnered with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. Throughout the month of December, or ‘Dukcember’DJ Duks will be sold at a discounted rate, and three dollars from every sale will be going to ALNF to support their goal of raising national language, literacy and numeracy standards. Donations will contribute to education and literacy programs across the nation, with a particular focus on working alongside Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as youth of refugee background. Adam and Reuben said,

.

We are super excited to be partnering with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation and to spread DJ Duks’ meaningful message to youth. We really believe in ALNF’s mission to instil a love of learning in young Australians and are proud to contribute and give back to the community”

.

Kim Kelly, ALNF Co-Founder and Executive Director, said, “Our partnership with BMG and the incredibly talented Peking Duk is ‘beyond fuego’. Dukcember gives ALNF an unprecedented opportunity to create awareness around our life-changing literacy programs with communities right around the country, and allows us to reach more children than ever before. Proceeds from DJ Duks will mean that marginalised kids will get the opportunity to dream big, and achieve everything they hope to. We are honoured to be working closely with a band so committed to making real change, who are standing with us to battle illiteracy, inequality and disadvantage”.

Heath Johns, BMG Australia Managing Director, said “During an inspiring meeting with ALNF it became immediately apparent that an alliance with BMG Australia could in some way help accelerate the momentum and  awareness around the inspiring work the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation is doing around Australia. Music and learning go hand in hand and we are so honoured to come on board as an ally to the organisation as they continue to do such important and inspiring work. We are pleased to work alongside our amazing clients Peking Duk on this first initiative with DJ Duks, and as we promised the team we have no doubt that this will be the first of many collaborations. Kim, Jasmine and the team are the real rockstars here but we are more than happy to be their roadies!”.
