Kelly Brouhaha spends most of the year around a campfire in her 1992 Toyota Hiace Van called “Pamela Vanderson”. Not one for the glitz and glamour of the industry, she’s a working musician with a passion for travel, camping and a good cup of tea.
Her latest single “Benjamin” tells the story of the boy that broke her heart and stole her dog, prompting the south australian to jump in a van to follow her dream of touring australia full-time. Fed up with what society dictated as success and disillusioned by a consumer society, Brouhaha sold her things to join the van life community. It’s a move that’s paid off for the multi-instrumentalist joining Beccy Cole’s all female outfit “The Sisters of Twang” and building a loyal following of fellow camping enthusiasts along the way. Hitting the AMRAP Charts at #1 this week, it’s a stripped back, alt-country tune with a catchy hook and the raw vulnerability we’ve come to expect from Brouhaha’s songwriting.
Her first single “40,000 Star Hotel” grabbed the attention of ABC country, Triple J and Double J as well as enjoying success on the spotify curated “New Nashville” playlist. Inspired by Cole’s camping tour Aussie Road Crew, the track speaks to the lure of off grid living and a minimalist lifestyle, something Brouhaha is particularly passionate about. Leaving the marriage and mortgage behind, “Benjamin” paints part 2 of the story for Brouhaha who has since found her place in country music as a jack of all trades.
Working with artists such as Sara Storer, Tania Kernaghan, Lyn Bowtell, Amber Joy Poulton, Libby O’Donovan, Andrew Swift & Gretta Ziller as part of the Aussie Road Crew house band – it seems around a campfire is where her music fits best.
“Benjamin” available Feb 28 on all streaming services.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
