For any new fans, how did you discover your love of making and performing music?
My parents put me in the local theatre when I was super young, so I can’t remember there ever being a time when music wasn’t a part of life. I guess I discovered a love of writing my own music when I hit my teen years, got a guitar and thought I knew everything about love.

Who are you biggest musical influences?
If you asked by teen-self it would’ve been solely Taylor Swift. Nowadays I listen to a lot of The Lumineers, Maggie Rogers, JP Saxe, HAIM and Harry Styles.

What do you think is unique about your sound?
For me, the story behind a song is always at the forefront of my mind. So I’d hope people would say there’s an authenticity and relatability in the music I write, whether it’s a bright, up-beat song or a stripped back, emotional one.

Your latest single ‘She Knows’ is out on the 21stof February. Can you tell us about the track and your inspiration?
She Knows is a bright, upbeat tune, inspired by classic 60’s sounds with a modern twist. It’s a letter to the person who has the one you love. I’ve wanted to write a song about that for a while, I love the idea of a letter to the next. This one screams, ‘You’ll never know her like I do and she knows it’. How saucy.

.

.

What does your song writing process typically look like?
It always starts on guitar. I’m generally sitting in the backyard, or occasionally on my bed, and I’ll start blurting out lyrics to chords I’m playing on the guitar, and if they’re coherent enough, they sticks. From there I try to finish it in one sitting otherwise I find it really hard to get back in the zone for that particular song.

It sounds like you had an amazing year in 2019 with 2 sold out headline tours, masses of support for ‘Let Yourself Down’ and 7 weeks of Europe/UK tours. What was your highlight?
I had The. Best. Time on tour last year!!! Both the Aus and European tours were so incredible. I would have to say Europe was my highlight though, it was my first time there, I saw falling snow (!!!!) and I played some of my favourite shows with some of my favourite musicians (@Harrisonstorm & @sonsoftheeast).

What would you say to your younger self as an aspiring musician?
Breathe and stop doubting yourself. (I would also say the same thing to my current self lol).

You’ll be touring Australia in March. What’s the best thing about performing your music live?
Seeing people in the crowd enjoying themselves and singing along to the music, there is literally NO better feeling. I said what I said.

If you could tour with anyone, who would it be and why? (Dead or alive)
This is an extremely tough question. My 15 year old self will haunt me if I don’t say Taylor Swift. So, Taylor Swift.

What’s coming up for you next?
First thing is releasing and touring ‘She Knows’ along the East Coast of Australia (which I’m ridiculously excited about), and then I’ll hopefully be back in Europe this year – and who knows, maybe some more new music on the way this year???

Finally, a few questions for some quick answers –
FAVOURITE:
Album – Taylor Swift – Red
Artist – The Lumineers
Movie – About Time
Place to visit – Canada
Venue to play – Mühle Hunziken (Switzerland)
Food –  Currently burritos
Drink – Co-No (Coke No Sugar)
Person in History –  Sylvia Plath
Tattoo – I have what was MEANT to be the outline of a cub head on my ankle, but I guess if you want your tattoos to look like what they’re meant to be, don’t get it done on an island by a sixteen year old. (it was my first tattoo, the rest are a lot better, but I’m a sucker for a good story, so this one takes the cake).
