Down To Earth – A Fire and Climate Relief Concert is a sold out event put on by a collective of some of Australia’s most beloved artists and is taking place tomorrow, Wednesday 26 February at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne.
Ruuben van den Heuvel, Head of Music Content Partnerships (Australian, New Zealand and South East Asia), YouTube, said, “Throughout the bushfires crisis over the past few months, Australians have united — and Down to Earth is yet another example of Aussies coming together to help those in need, as well as a moment to look to the future. We’re pleased to be able to support by enabling live streaming of this concert on YouTube, and take some of Australia’s most beloved artists and their message to the world, a potential audience of billions.”
A previous joint statement from the group said ‘Collectively, our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones, the firies who have put their lives on the line and continue to, and the communities across Australia suffering. We hope to give you the greatest thing we can in this time of great need – our voices and our songs.’
With 100% of profits being donated, the event will raise much needed funds for immediate fire relief via Red Cross, WIRES and Wildlife Victoria, as well as funding organisations that focus on long term solutions, education and leadership for the fire and climate emergency in Australia.
‘We believe a holistic response to fire relief and future protection is what the youth of Australia are calling for. As well as immediate fire relief, we value the long term needs of small communities, the knowledge of First Nations people, and the need for climate action.’
In addition to raising funds for the Red Cross, Down To Earth will also support WIRES and Wildlife Victoria, providing rescue and rehabilitation for all native Australian animals; Emergency Leaders for Climate Action, who are taking action to tackle climate change; Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal who facilitate support for communities preparing and recovering from disasters; and Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation (Firesticks) who deliver an Indigenous led Cultural Fire program to support affected communities and countries.
Down to Earth is made possible thanks to the waiving of fees and commissions by all performing artists, Lemon Tree Music, Mirror Music Group, Handsome Tours, Arts Centre Melbourne, OneMusic Australia and many other contributing organisations. In addition to ticketed income, all bar and merchandise profits will also be donated. Additional opportunities for donation to the partner charities will be available at the event. Down To Earth will also be working with Green Music Australia to reduce the events environmental impact.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
