The organisers of Down To Earth – A Fire and Climate Relief Concert have today announced the event raised over $1 million dollars and counting – with donations still coming in. The sold out event, which took place yesterday at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, was attended by 12,100 fans with an all-star Australian lineup. Additionally, almost 670,000 people from all over the world tuned in to watch the event live stream globally on YouTube, which is currently trending at #20 on the streaming giant.

Down To Earth merchandise sold out within hours of gates opening. Due to extreme demand, the organisers will be doing a second run of t-shirts with all proceeds donated to charity. Fans who missed out on the day can now pre-order via Space Mirror.

The money was raised through ticket sales and online donations, as well as merchandise and bar sales on the day of the event. 100% of profits are being donated to Red Cross, WIRES, Wildlife Victoria, Emergency Leaders for Climate Action, Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation (Firesticks).

Artists who performed at the event include (in alphabetical order) Angus and Julia Stone, Briggs, Gang Of Youths, Jack River, Ruby Fields, Tash Sultana and Thelma Plum. The event was hosted by Triple J radio presenter Bridget Hustwaite.

Talking about the event, Jack River reflects: “To play to 12,000 people knowing we are all there for such an important purpose was wildly inspirational. We want to thank every single person who sung along, watched on YouTube, danced or supported – any way you showed support, thank you.”
