How do you turn 10 years into 10 songs? It’s almost an impossible task, we know.
But triple j Breakfast hosts Sally & Erica have given it a shot by paying tribute to some of the inspiring artists of the 2010s with their very own medley rap.
The video comes ahead of triple j’s International Women’s Day programming, Girls to the Front, which you can hear on your radio all day on Sunday 8 March. Tune in to hear the best music made by women over the last decade – just in time to get your votes in for triple j’s Hottest 100 of the Decade!

LYRICS
10 songs, in ten years? An Impossible task
I get lost in the present, I get lost in the past
I forget the songs that made me, I forget the ones that shaped me
That flew under the radar, that went off in the charts
Whether you danced to em, cried to em, broke up to em, fight to em,
Laughed to em, lost to em, had a big night to em
It’s the memories, the way they find a place in your heart, see
I’ll never forget the way I felt when I first heard Charlie
Welcome to the jungle
Cos Tash came and then smashed the game
Cos trends go and fashions change
But her loop pedal, it had to stay
A big riff and a slappin’ bass
A new wave and they knew the deal
There’s ladies gaining accolades
Like Courtney, Haim and Ruby Fields
HOLD UP – hold up hold up wait steady mate
SLOW DOWN – there’s too much in my list already ay
Ahh don’t stress about it cos Beyoncé got it readymade
Just gotta vote for every single song she wrote on lemonade
Nah local acts is where it’s at, that’s when I’m down for real
Like when The Preatures asked me baby,
Is this how you feel?
To all the Aussie stars I’m saying thank you very much
Cos I don’t need no run of mill, don’t need no
Don’t need no regular touch
It’s a song that touched a nerve, and Vera Blue us all away
Take a bow to those lady powers, that was all the rage
And then bad was good, ask Billie, MIA said you could tell,
that it was, live fast die young bad girls do it well
Cos we’ll Never be royals
But you can bet we get around a Lorde
Pure Heroine, then melodrama, hit her stride and then shook us all
When Frank was sick at Splendour it was her that took the call
She stood on stage and killed it, sixteen and standing tall?
Tell em all I said hi, hope you been well, I’ve been asleep while you’ve been in hell
So go and tell, Amy that I’m glad that she believed in her sound
Cos now her fans are in arenas and they’re screaming in thousands
You took the colour from me,
Then Thelma took the stage and took the breath right out our chest
The kind of voice that didn’t need to try and impress
Cos she was speaking from the heart, and we were kinda obsessed
I’m in the corner watching you kiss her
But I guess, that in the end, this last decade made it clear
That there’s ladies coming out the corners
Swinging from the chandelier

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
