Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you get the song writing bug?
Yes, I grew up in a musical family. My mum was a singer in many bands, my Aunty was a performer on the west end in London, my uncles are producers, instrumentalists and singers too. Music runs through my blood. I was around 7 when I thought about writing my own songs. I knew then I didn’t want other people writing for me, I wanted to sing my own stories.
How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
I describe my sound as alternative pop, driven by piano with elements of sadness and glamour. I hope people resonate with my music because it’s honest. It doesn’t sugar coat, and if it does you know I’m doing it on purpose. I like mixing fantasy and reality. It’s a constant push and pull in my music.
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
So many. It definitely isn’t just one person. But if we’re going to go with my top influences it’s: Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and David Bowie.

Your new single has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
It’s origins began in Melbourne 2016. I was there auditioning for drama school and waiting to hear back whether I got in or not. I didn’t know what was going to happen and I felt very lost. Honest With You was almost selfish in a way. I honestly just made it to sort out my own mind and have a song I could listen to that fit my exact situation so I felt less alone. Over time it kind of just stuck. When I made the first demo it was definitely less pop and more dreamy/alternative with a large influence of frank ocean in terms of that rhythmic freestyle. Once I got into the studio I tightened it up and brought it to a middle ground between pop and alt, because I can’t help myself.
Is there an EP or Album on the drawing board?
Certainly. I’ve been wanting to do an album for years and years. That’s the dream. I’ve just had to find the right people to do it. I’ve got the concept. I’ve got the songs it’s just about making it happen now. I can’t wait to finish all the tracks.
Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I had a single launch that was going to be held in April but has been pushed back to a later date due to obvious reasons. I’m hoping to combine my next single launch with this one. I’ll update everyone as soon as I know a date.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
There are way too many people I could answer for this question. I think performing with Freddie Mercury would have to be one of the biggest highs you could ever experience in life. So I’d have to go with him.
Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
I’d really love to travel with my music and get to a stage where I can do a world tour. That would be the dream. I’d also love to play an arena at some point in my life.
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
I can get really anxious performing to a live audience, but I would say the best thing is the person I become on stage. I leave my anxiety behind and just become one with the music and that’s such an amazing experience. You can be whoever you want to be on stage. My career highlight has been the messages I get from people about the different ways my music affects them.
