After his appearance on The Voice Kids Australia when he was only 8 years old, Sebastian Coe has gone from strength to strength, with an impressive number of achievements already under his belt. Since his appearance on nationwide TV Sebastian has continued to perform around Australia and overseas. Now the young Perth-based artist has just released Me, a powerful track that will no doubt endear this amazingly talented performer to audiences everywhere.

Stemming from real-life events in Sebastian’s life, Me is a powerful ode to self-belief that has universal appeal and an enduring quality about it. Sebastian’s undeniable vocal prowess is at the fore, accompanied by a brilliantly executed piano performance and splendidly arranged lush strings. Although the lyric contains poignant reflections of inner strength, the song’s stirring melodies are the perfect counterparts; from the opening verse lines to the concluding chorus the track builds into a memorable and heart-wrenching musical experience. With lines such as, ‘I’m gonna never let you see, never let you see the weaker side of me, though lately I have felt, like being someone else’, the urgency and intensity of the song is easily understood.

The song is not only about taking control and asserting one’s identity but about the vulnerability that goes along with all that. Sebastian’s finely-cadenced voice perfectly communicates these twin sensibilities. The strong melodic structure and restrained production help infuse the track with an intimacy despite the dramatic fire that’s contained in the all the performances, including Sebastian’s, who imbues his vocal with just the right amount of light and shade. Me will no doubt resonate with audiences everywhere, both in Australia and on a global level, it’s a track that defies genre and demographics and a compelling snapshot of an artist on the cusp of a huge future.
