Becky Rhodes is a fresh voice in the Melbourne singer/songwriter scene. Hailing originally from  Brisbane, Becky completed a Bachelor of Music from the QLD Conservatorium of Music before relocating to Melbourne to further her career. Working as a musician, performer and vocalist on the Melbourne live music scene for the last few years, Becky is known for her powerhouse vocals & lively stage presence and works for some of Australia’s best entertainment agencies. Making her debut as a singer/songwriter with her forthcoming EP Wonder, Becky showcases her vulnerability and storytelling ability through her heartbreaking lyrics & catchy melodies in first single “He’s Not You”.

Produced by Mark D’Angelo of The Backlot Studios, “He’s Not You” is the song about trying (and failing) to move on after a significant relationship. Becky elaborates, “you go out drinking & dancing with your friends, trying to forget someone – but it just makes you miss them more. Moving on with someone new always feels a bit strange & wrong, but it’s a part of the process. I wrote this song after a night out with some friends where I was trying to enjoy myself and move on but I was just miserable. The words “He’s Not You” just popped into my head on the dance floor and the seed of the song was born.”

Two weeks prior to entering the studio to record her debut EP, Becky had her relationship suddenly end. With no set idea on what material she’d be working on in the studio, this experience provided much of the inspiration for the new material, with Becky positively looking back at that period of time – “the timing of the breakup & studio sessions was in a weird way, perfect.” The final afternoon in the studio with Mark was spent writing and recording “He’s Not You”.

Becky has already had a charmed experience working within the music industry, traveling around Australia with various shows & bands and performing at The Sydney Opera House as a teenager, and “He’s Not You” gives listeners the first taste of where her career is headed.
