DISCLOSURE share ‘My High feat. Aminé and slowthai’ today, listen HERE. Taken from their forthcoming album ENERGY, out 28 August, ‘My High feat. Aminé and slowthai’ is another bold statement from the UK-based electronic duo. Having had its first play as Annie Mac’s Hottest Recordon BBC Radio 1 yesterday, the pulse raising track finds Aminé and slowthai go head to head on an insanely exciting hip-house rampage that bursts out of the speakers and fires up all your emotions.
A distinct leap away from the club tracks offered on the Ecstasy EP and the more distinctive Disclosure production on the rousing title track ‘ENERGY’, ‘My High’ goes further to prove the versatility and innovation harnessed by songwriter-producer brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence. The dynamic, fast-paced video was shot pre-lockdown between Mexico City and LA. It was directed by Simon Cahn and features performances by both Aminé and slowthai.

Disclosure say of the release: “We always wanted to work with rappers, we just didn’t know any and we had no means of contacting them…there’s not a lot of rappers in Reigate.
Writing My High with Aminé was a lot of fun, he’s hilarious and may as well be a comedian. He writes so quickly and it’s amazing to watch. He brought so much energy to this already very energetic tune that when we got home to London in January there was only one guy capable of matching it…slowthai.”
Aminé and slowthai are not the only rappers on ENERGY – elsewhere you’ll find appearances from Mick Jenkins, Channel Tres and the legend that is Common. Other features include the inimitable Kelis, Fatoumata Diawara and the hip hop preacher Eric Thomas – both of which the boys have linked up with previously – Cameroon’s Blick Bassy brings his own flow to the table while a powerhouse team of Kehlani & Syd ease the pace with their contribution.
For the exhilarating new album ENERGY, the title is everything. “The thing that decided which songs made it and which songs didn’t was that one word: energy. Every track was written really quickly. That’s why we had to write so many songs because those ones don’t come up every day. Or every week. Or every month.”. Through an epic process of creation and distillation the path to producing their shortest, most direct album – 11 songs, 39 minutes – ran through around 200 tracks: everything from drum loops to fully realised songs.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
