Something For Kate today share the music and video for ‘Waste Our Breath’ – the second single to be lifted from their forthcoming and highly anticipated studio album, due for release later this year and their first in over 8 years!

Recorded in  Byron Bay by American rock heavyweight Nick DiDia (Powderfinger, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), and mixed in Toronto by Canadian pop-electro auteur Howie Beck (Feist, Hayden, Chilly Gonzalez), ‘Waste Our Breath’ soars into the stratosphere taking the listener with it –  a wildly eclectic and swaying soul-rock belter with a guitar coda for the ages,

Says Paul Dempsey of the song: ‘Waste Our Breath is a song about trying to find an empty space. It’s about privacy and surveillance and social media and oxygen and George Orwell and how we’re all on TV now.’

Directed by Alex Badham (Oh Mercy, Magic Hands, Paul Dempsey, Ryan Downey), the video for ‘Waste Our Breath’ was shot on location at the hauntingly beautiful Palais Theatre in Melbourne.

“The eerie silence of the theatre perfectly reflected the song’s themes of futility – about throwing all your energy at something knowing that it will get you nowhere – so what better way to sum that up by performing to 3000 empty seats?” says the band of the video – watch HERE

Since debuting in 1996 with their singular deconstruction of indie-guitar rock, Something For Kate have gone on to bend the musical landscape to their will, becoming a critically-acclaimed Australian institution predicated on sticking to their guns. As well as gold and platinum albums, they’ve amassed a legion of rusted-on fans dedicated to whatever the band does next – however long the wait.
