Get excited and ready to start the new year with a bang, as THIS THAT organisers have been plotting a mammoth return with a plan to put on two back-to-back events this Feb 2021. Today they announce they will be growing the THIS THAT festival family to include QLD’s Sandstone Point Hotel.
With the previous date change from November 2020, the festival will now run across two weekends: Saturday 13 February (QLD) and Saturday 20 February (NSW) 2021.
For six years now, THIS THAT has been a leading staple on the Aussie live music calendar with the Newcastle event traditionally marking the start of the summer festival season each November.
With previous line ups having included chart-topping local and international party starters like Alison Wonderland, Amy Shark, RL Grime, Broods, The Presets, Hermitude, RUFUS, Schoolboy Q and Peking Duk heating up the THIS THAT stage, the team will announce the latest edition stellar line-up over the coming weeks.
THIS THAT are currently working with Federal, State and Local Government authorities on an all-encompassing health and safety plan, including advice around ongoing COVID safe protocols.
Newcastle’s favourite one-day party is on, alongside their new sister venue at Sandstone Point. Time to start planning that outfit and remember how ridiculously good it feels to be with mates at a festival once again.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
