Following a mammoth year in 2019, Melbourne indie-pop outfit Telescreen are back with their new single ‘Moving On’. This latest offering from the band came to life in the peak of Australia’s recent bushfire crisis.
Twisting themes of anger and neglect into a narrative depicting a failing relationship, songwriter and front man Nic Schwarz explains the feelings behind this new track.
“We, as a group, felt as though there was this real disconnect between the actions of Australia’s leaders and the true needs of those affected by the fires. ‘Moving On’ addresses our politicians’ disregard for public opinion, along with their seemingly growing inaction and detachment from issues in order to protect their self-interests.”
Actioning these frustrations, Telescreen put together a benefit show earlier in the year with fellow Melbournians bands Feelds and El Tee to raise much-needed funds for bushfire relief.
Like most, Telescreen’s 2020 hasn’t quite played out quite as they had initially planned. The band did, however, receive the exciting news that they were the lucky winners of this year’s Triple J Unearthed NIDA competition. The competition provided the band with the opportunity to work with an incredible team of students from the National Institute of Dramatic Art to create a music video for their new single.
The video was premiered on Australia’s iconic music video program Rage and was shared far and wide with Triple J Unearthed audiences.
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic added a number of limitations to the planning and filming of this project but, despite the restrictions, the collective team was able to create a bright and bold statement with their music video for new track ‘Moving On’, representing it’s themes of anger and neglect.

On the eve of this new chapter from Telescreen, frontman Nic Schwarz, began a new chapter of his own. In the midst of the global pandemic, Nic left his 9 to 5 to pursue music as more than just a hobby. With his goal to turn creating music into a full-time gig, Nic is investing in his time in his talents as both a songwriter and producer. Nic has spent a lot of this year co-writing with producers and artists from around the country via video calls and in between lockdowns. Nic and the band have found the lockdown period a challenging one with the lack of live shows but it has given them the chance to drill down into more new music like ‘Moving On’.
‘Moving On’ is the follow up on from the band’s 2019 debut EP. The release of their popular single and EP title track ‘Growing Pains’ saw Telescreen land significant rotation on Triple J Unearthed and community radio around the country, as well as receive its first international recognition. Featuring on the popular UK blog Scientists of Sound, ‘Growing Pains’ quickly hit #1 on the global Hype Machine charts and notch a huge 15k SoundCloud plays in a matter of days. The band also released their first music video for their single ‘In Mind’ which chalked up plays on Rage and was featured on popular music site Clipped TV.
2019 was a big year on the stage with the band playing some of their biggest shows to date. Telescreen shared stages with likes of Mosquito Coast, STUMPS, DIET., Francesca Gonzalez, Creature Fear and The Attics as well as selling out their biggest headliners and playing their first-ever festival appearances.
The release of ‘Moving On’ begins a new chapter for the band as they look to ramp things up moving into 2021.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
