Eighteen-year-old Perth based Singer, Songwriter and producer Jarrod Jeremiah is back with his second single of 2020, ‘Face the Light’. Releasing on December 7th 2020
Taking more of a slick indie-pop meets electronic with the production, he guides listeners on a vibrant chilled exploration of how one should face their problems even if it has to be done by themselves.
“The concept of ‘Face the Light’ came together when the swung groove came to me one night. The song itself is driven forward using the deceiving complex 5/8 groove which adds a unique feel to a pop song which are usually in 4/4. The song samples real string tremolos at the start from classical composers. The introduction brings in a pentatonic scalic melody which is later brought back as the chorus”, Jeremiah explains.
“The chorus lyrics resonate with me as this is written in the middle of lockdown, a time in which everyone feels alone and by themselves. Often people use this as an excuse to not face their problems which I explain as the ‘light’, he adds.
With background vocals from Jeremiah’s sister in the chorus the layers and harmonies add depth to the work. Layered with slick synths and intricate pulsating production, he perfectly captures a sombre yet vibrant mood.
After great success from his previous single reaching over 50,000 streams and becoming a viral sensation on Tik Tok with over 58,000 followers Jarrod hopes to finish the year of with a successful song ready for summer.
