Have you ever wondered what Knives Chau from Scott Pilgrim vs The World would sound like if she was in a band? Well look no further because the powerful and edgy but also sweet RinRin answers that for you. RinRin is a pop-punk artist from Perth, Western Australia who just released her newest single “Seek The Truth.” This follows her debut single “The Game” which drew audience attention across all platforms.
“I have tried to seek the truth behind the lies.”
“Seek The Truth” begins with a heavy distorted sound with a high pitched melody coming through with a drop into a heavily distorted guitar, a great representation of what the song was going to sound like. RinRin’s vocals are sweet yet powerful and contrast the heavy instrumental, making it a really interesting sound. I would compare her vocals to Avril Lavigne, Hayley Williams of Paramore or Jenna McDougall of Tonight Alive: a cute but powerful punk-rock-pop sound.
The melody is catchy and I found myself headbanging along automatically. The addition of the male screaming vocals added depth and made the song just a touch heavier. “Seek The Truth” is destined to be a great mosh song, specifically the snap transition from the hauntingly beautiful breakdown into the powerful, energy-filled chorus. The song is sure to appeal to fans of pop punk, punk, rock and metalcore.

The lyrics in “Seek The Truth” explore the themes of freedom and seeing through facades. RinRin explains that the song is about toxic relationships, whether they be friendship or romantic, “where you’re fed with lies and manipulation but you’re denying what is wrong.” Both the vocals and the instrumental allow for this message to really shine, with RinRin’s emotions really coming through in the vocals to make for a raw, authentic experience. The musical composition of the song fits the emotions one would experience in these situations, from anger and betrayal to sadness. The bridge especially gives forth a sense of vulnerability that contrasts the powerful emotion in the rest of the song.
RinRin fits a whole lot of talent into such a small space. Her vocals are clean and polished and her time performing in the local scenes has given her a real edge to her performance. I’m excited to see what the future brings for RinRin and I can’t wait to hear what she releases next. As a new fan of RinRin, I’d recommend her music if you’re into artists like Tonight Alive, Paramore, Bring Me The Horizon (if it was female fronted), Avril Lavigne and Hey Monday.
