Fresh from releasing their sixth studio album, Freeze, Melt, GRAMMY-nominated, ARIA award-winning electronic act Cut Copy have today dropped a brand new remix EP. The four track collection includes a rework of “Love Is All We Share” by Octo Octa, plus remixes from Luke Abbott, Leo James and Fantastic Man of other album highlights.

The atmospheric, beautifully reflective “Love Is All We Share” is given a new lease of life today by iconic DJ and producer Octo Octa, in the wake of her hugely-acclaimed 2019 album Resonant Body. A timely reminder of our need for connection, the track – says Octo Octa – represents “an idea that sits deeply inside myself. Love is the driving force for change and understanding.”

Elsewhere, the Freeze, Melt remix EP surrounds Cut Copy – a seminal band in contemporary dance music – with fellow leading lights. “Cold Water” is given a new interpretation by Luke Abbott, whose solo work, film scores and Gold Panda collaborations have garnered widespread acclaim, as well as fellow Melbourne royalty Fantastic Man. The EP also follows recent Cut Copy remixes from Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and the legendary Madonna, Dua Lipa and Killers collaborator Jacques Le Cont.

Cut Copy’s Dan Whitford explains of the EP, “The ‘Freeze, Melt Remixes’ EP compiles 4 new remixes of tracks from our new album from some great producers. Octo Octa’s ‘resonant body’ has been one of my favourite dance records of last year, and Luke Abbott has constantly surprised with unique sounds over the past ten years, so we were very excited to have both of them included. Also our fellow countrymen Fantastic Man and Leo James bring diverse ideas to the table. Fantastic Man’s dance floor ready acid re-take on ‘Like Breaking Glass’ is up to his usual high standards, and Leo James takes the tempo right down with an unexpected dub version of ‘Rain’, with added saxophone from NO ZU’s Cain Borthwick. I hope everyone enjoys the release as much as we’ve enjoyed hearing these remixes come back.”

Released earlier this summer, Freeze, Melt has quickly become one of the most warmly received moments of Cut Copy’s formidable back catalogue. Born from a bedroom recording project by Dan Whitford, and expanding to a fully-fledged band with guitarist Tim Hoey, drummer Mitchell Scott, and bass player Ben Browning, Cut Copy’s sound is one marked by constant experimentation, and remarkable consistency. Their renowned live show has graced major U.S TV shows Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and primetime slots at prestigious festivals Coachella, Ultra, Lollapalooza, Primavera, Pitchfork, Summer Sonic and Big Day Out. Attracting praise both at home and abroad, the beloved act have picked up multiple nominations across a nineteen-year career. 2011’s ARIA chart-topper Zonoscope was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album of the Year at the GRAMMY Awards, and awarded Best Dance Release at the ARIA Awards, while 2008’s In Ghost Colours received nominations for the ARIA Awards’ Best Dance/Electronic Album and Album of the Year at the J Awards.

Providing new perspectives on already beloved tracks, the Freeze, Melt remix EP opens another chapter into the immense talent of Cut Copy. Coming up to 20 years together, today’s release alongside their entire 2020 offering showcases the enduring talents of one of Australia’s biggest exports.
