Lydia Fairhall is a Worimi woman of many talents, recently announced to play at Woodford’s 2020 version of their folk festival – Bushtime – on December 29 as part of ‘Camp 3’ which has now sold out. Lydia will also be hosting a session in the Workshop programme earlier that day – ‘Concious Leadership & The Next Economy’ – an interactive masterclass exploring the role spiritual practice plays in creating an economy that supports wellbeing within the bounds of our ecology.

Lydia Fairhall & The She Oaks debut album TRUE NORTH has been released through Lydia’s own label Mermaid Records, featuring the previously released singles ‘Somebody’s Daughter’ & ‘Sign Of The Times’, and upcoming single ‘Crying Country’.

‘Somebody’s Daughter’ peaked at No.1 on AMRAPs regional airplay charts & ‘Sign Of The Times’ emotive video premiered on The Music

TRUE NORTH is an upcoming ‘Album Of The Week’ on nationally syndicated CMAA program Good Morning Country, and is receiving airplay around Australia and in the UK & USA.

At a time of great uncertainty within the music industry, Lydia and her team, Leanne deSouza, Deb Suckling and Deborah Gann offer up a breathe of something new.

Exploring the release of independent music through a First Nations, artist led, next economy lens has led to some significant breakthroughs in reimagining the release cycle.

Equally so, the creation of the album itself pushes the boundaries of a standard recording process- with time on country with Elders, and a commitment to non extractive methods present through every part of this artist’s approach. The creative and business team work towards balance across caring for country, financial prosperity, spiritual wellness and human flourishing, using the record as a method of strengthening human connection, local knowledges and momentum for a new music ecology that better serves people and the planet.

Formed in the mountain ranges and creeks of the Mary Valley in Sunshine Coast Hinterland and the vibrant streets of Melbourne, Lydia Fairhall & The She Oaks features some of Australia’s finest musicians including Chris Pickering (guitar), Sam Pankhurst (bass), Kali Blunt (vox/guitar) and Ben Graham (drums).

Produced by Jackie Marshall, the album is an intimate experience where listeners are invited to shine a light on all of the flow and ease and beauty of the world and of humanity. Jackie is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and recording artist whose own debut album was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize, and this is her first outing as producer.
