LASHES and REYKO!
team up on
‘THE ISLAND’
Remixes

After the release of ‘The Island’ earlier this year, LASHES’ striking electro-pop single has been reimagined by REYKO!, with the pair delivering ‘The Island Alien Rave Remix’ and ‘The Island Tropical Remix’, mastered by Trae Tuohy.
Speaking of the remixes, LASHES said: “This collaboration came about pretty organically and randomly, beginning over the Instagram DM’s. I came across REYKO! through the New Wave Infinity arts collective as they are filming my next music video for “Luv Is Blind”, and I heard one of REYKO!’s productions via his Instagram story. I loved his experimental RnB feel so I reached out to him and he replied that he’d love to do a flip of one of my songs some time. I thought he could really do something totally different with “The Island”, and let him know that he could make it as weird and wacky as he wanted. He ended up coming back to me with two very individual remixes that I thought were so different to the original, but equally as special.”

REYKO! typifies the new wave of Melbourne’s creativity. Drawing inspiration from artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR, Roy Woods and even a tinge of José González, he defies the limits placed on genres and has forged an interesting blend of penetrative, pensive alternative RnB.
As a producer, artist and co-leader of one of the cities biggest creative collectives New Wave Infinity, the drive to elevate the culture and the people within it pushes REYKO! forward at every turn.

About LASHES
Nestled away in a makeshift studio in her parents’ garage, the brilliant young mind of Ballarat local Yohanna Bright bubbles with a vivacious energy, crafting bold electro-pop anthems under the moniker LASHES.
Fusing sweetly sincere vocals with a tenacious and daring approach to production, LASHES is the symbol of two juxtaposing definitions – from delicate eyelashes, to the raw and real emotion of lashing out.
The artist stumbled upon her love for songwriting at just seven years of age, and finding she lacked the patience to learn musical theory, became a self-taught instrumentalist.
Hailing from regional Victoria, LASHES found herself limited in her musical pursuits, but certainly not in her sonic influences – the likes of The 1975, Ellie Goulding, Hermitude, Flume, and even a self-confessed “emo phase” have formed the backbone of the project.
“I love the little intricate details these artists use in their storytelling. The Ballarat music scene isn’t huge, so I hermit crabbed myself away for years in my parents’ garage, keeping all of my songs to myself,” says Bright.
Earlier this year, LASHES unveiled her bold debut single ‘Treason’, to which it met praise from triple j Unearthed music director Dave Ruby Howe as a “sizzling start” and Home & Hosed’s Declan Byrne as an “emphatic pop force”. The single took form as most of Bright’s songs do – scribbled down on the nearest customer receipt or cardboard box, while at work.
“Often I’d be serving a customer at the register, and a song would come to me,” says Bright. “I would take unwanted receipts and quickly scribble them down on the back and stuff them into my pocket. Most of the time they were lost forever in the washing machine.”
Now, LASHES returns with her new release ‘The Island’ – a conceptual glimpse into the solitude of a seemingly one-sided relationship, and a signal of an exciting journey for the Ballarat newcomer.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
