With the lights back on for 2021, we are ready to rock, stream and rumble! It’s hard to believe that 2020 is over but it feels damn fine to be back for a fresh year of ISOL-AID.

We are so stoked that last year saw a neverending lineup of magic to keep us sane and sound thanks to the spectacular bands keeping the volume cranked while doors were closed. It’s hard to imagine we started as a globule and now we’re global. With the world not only our oyster but our collective big ol’ venue, we’ve kept it plugged in and the vibe ridin’ high.

So lets carry that energy into this new year!

Kicking off this week’s edition is AYA YVES, the brainchild of Cooma born Canberra native Vendulka. Aya Yves combines light & airy vocals with dark, brooding and quirky production. Launching from folk music roots by capturing the vulnerability and unifying connection folk is known for but standing out with otherworldly vocal abilities and songwriting, Aya Yves is emerging as a premierface in Australian pop. 

THE RIONS may be teenagers but that doesn’t mean their music is immature or feckless – they have been fleshing out a sound and vision that is years beyond their median age. Catchy indie-rock that stands at the intersection of influences – wind-swept & light-hearted but with feet firmly planted with a foundation of large understandings of themselves and the changing world around them. The band sound festival-ready and we hope that this set is a taste of what’s to come for these up and comers. 

JAMILLA shines a beaming soul through the dark clouds above, creating wonderful bone-reverberating beauty. The producer hails from Perth and cooks up intimate lyrical ability with intricate, dizzying alt-R&B production. Rich percussion and synths that soothe underpin themes of self-identity, sexuality, gender and power. Dive into the ocean. 

We close out this week’s pearler of a lineup with ANNIE HAMILTON. Annie’s music navigates the waters of memory, perception and nostalgia through cascading, ethereal vocals and a sprawl of instrumentation. Having spent time in an isolated town in northern Iceland, Annie’s music feels much like the idea of Iceland itself – mysterious, full of wonder and almost untouchable. Creating an at-home cinema of explosive soundscapes, Hamilton’s music has led to praise from Triple J, FBi Radio, tour support for Julia Jacklin & Jack River and accumulated over 80,000 streams. Careful of your eyes when you tune into this one, because it’s gonna be bright and shining.
