Cloe Wilder is quickly establishing herself as a singer/songwriter to watch, curating personal lyricism that feels incredibly relatable. She recently released two singles from the upcoming EP, “It’s True” + “Call Me If You Need Me“.

Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you start writing music?
I have! I had never written, though. I recorded a few covers when I was 11 and sent them around. I was contacted by a producer and flew to my first writing camp. Then, I caught the bug.
How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
More recently, ethereal with a dash of bedroom indie and fake romance. I don’t know why people resonate with it. I try not to think about why, I’m just grateful that they do.
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
Lana Del Rey!
Your new EP “Teenage Lullabies” has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
I knew that I wanted to write an EP, so I started writing in March. The first song we wrote for the project was “It’s True” and that’s where the title of “Teenage Lullabies” came from – “what a teenage lullaby.” That led to the romanticization of my teenage years. We kept writing until we had these seven songs. Prior to the EP, I was writing and releasing random singles. This project makes sense. I feel like I’ve finally done something right. I consider this my proper introduction.

What are the signature pieces on the Album, and what is your favorite track, and why?
I’ve felt all of it, but I just made it a little prettier for your listening pleasure; more romantic and poetic. My favorite track changes weekly, but at the moment, it’s “In The Next Life,” the closing track.
Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I had plenty of tours and live shows planned for this EP, but plans have definitely changed. To make up for that, I’ll be doing more live streams and virtual performances, which I love too. I’m looking forward to writing more music because that’s my favorite part… but, I’m going to ride this EP wave for a while. I love it.
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
My answer has never changed for this question. Lana Del Rey. She is the first artist I can remember listening to and thinking, “I want to do that too.”
Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
Before, I would’ve said to get signed to a major label, which is still a goal of mine. But, now, I know how much more important the music itself is. I was playing a character at first. I never want to do that again. I want to maintain that, no matter the offer.
.
.
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
I’ve only performed live twice and it was really early in my career. Nobody knew me or my songs. But, I loved looking at them, even though they had no idea who I was. I loved watching people wonder who I was. I can’t even imagine how cool it would be to sing to a crowd of people who know me. I can’t wait.
