“We’re all looking for shoulders to lean on, and hands to shake we can trust”.
2020 certainly created many challenges for musicians. Artists were made to think outside the box to how they produced music, released music, and performed it for an audience. The Silencio is an alternative rock band from Queensland that has taken on board the creative challenge of how best to showcase their music to the world. They have taken the unique approach of drip feeding their new album one song at a time, and to release their album in late 2021.

2020 certainly created many challenges for musicians. Artists were made to think outside the box to how they produced music, released music, and performed it for an audience. The Silencio is an alternative rock band from Queensland that has taken on board the creative challenge of how best to showcase their music to the world. Each time a track is released it has an accompanying music video so not only do listeners get to hear the tracks but also watch the creativity of the band and their music on screen.
This approach has been successful and received well by an audience so far. Their first single “Same But Different” was played on Triple J regularly leading up to their music video release and gained a huge amount of positive feedback. The release of the second single “Apology” saw a steady growing fan base that would otherwise be gained from touring, proving that the formula of introducing their songs one by one is working.

“I don’t want you to feel this way, I used to feel the same, you’re not alone”
The Silencio is now ready to release their anticipated third single “You’re Not Alone”. This single is not quite as heavy as their second single “Apology”, however still features that edgy, silky smooth rock sound.
“You’re Not Alone”, not that dissimilar to other songs that were written and released in 2020, is a song about staying positive in hard times and literally letting you know that you are not alone.
The song starts off straight away with lyrics and with no music intro. The starting lyrics in the first verse “We’ve all clenched our fists in anger, shed some tears in pain” are sung featuring a bass and drum beat. Harmonies then are added at the end of the first verse before the rest of the instruments jump in for the chorus of the lyrics “I don’t want you to feel this way, I used to feel the same, you’re not alone” and repeats four times.
The second verse of the song features the powerful lyrics “We’re all looking for shoulders to lean on, and hands to shake we can trust, it’s all about comfort and meaning, what else do we have to lose”.
Fans are going to be delighted with the accompanying music video clip to this single. It was shot in Japan and follows a young woman walking through the city at night alone and feeling all alone. The clip has a nice change of scenery for the third verse from the city to nature where the young woman feels a connection and free and not alone. It is a well-done clip and matches the song beautifully.
“You’re Not Alone” is a single not to be missed, and if you are in Queensland, you are in luck! With the easing of restrictions, the band are going to be playing two shows where you will certainly get to hear the first three singles from their upcoming EP, a taste of songs from their previous EP “Anathema”, and you may be lucky enough to hear a sneak peak of other songs to be released. Who knows! You will have to get along to a show and see! You can catch The Silencio on the 14th of February at Vinnie’s Dive Bar on the Gold Coast.
