In February, singer-songwriter Paul Field AM announced his debut solo album ‘Love Songs For Lonely People’. The announcement came alongside the release of the first single ‘Valentine’s Day’ featuring Kasey Chambers.
This Easter weekend, Paul is releasing the second single ‘You Ain’t Going Nowhere’, a cover of the Bob Dylan track, with none other than Australian rock icon – Jimmy Barnes!
On working with long-time friend Jimmy Barnes, Paul says: “During the pandemic, like a good friend does, Jimmy Barnes would ask how I was doing and what was happening. I said that I had started to record songs with the help of my long-time muso mates and friends such as Kasey Chambers. He encouraged me to keep creating and to do a whole album of material. I then asked Jimmy if he would like to sing with me as well and he said yeah! Within a minute we had decided to do a favourite Bob Dylan song together, “You Ain’t Going Nowhere”.
On working with Paul, Jimmy said: “Paul Field is one of the great guys of the music industry. We’ve been mates for a long time and love all the same music. I was really thrilled to get the chance to sing on his record”.
The album marks the former singer for The Cockroaches first-ever solo album and is due for release Friday, June 4. ‘Love Songs For Lonely People’ is a combination of new originals and covers of songs special to him.
“Some of these songs I’ve been singing since I was a teenager. The common element with all of these songs is that I love them, and it was always a desire to record them one day” says Paul.
Featured on the album are friends Jimmy Barnes, Kasey Chambers, Ria Pirelli, Chris E Thomas and Elly-May Barnes. Featured on all tracks playing the guitar is Bill Chambers. The majority of ‘Love Songs For Lonely People’ was recorded at Jimmy Barnes own studio in Sydney and is co-produced by Paul’s brother John, who wrote and co-wrote some of the biggest hits for The Cockroaches and The Wiggles and co-wrote ‘This Way to Love and Happiness’ & ‘Alison (You’re The One)’.

Field was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2020 Australia Day Honours for “significant service to the arts, particularly to children’s entertainment, and as a supporter of charitable endeavours.” His career began in the Sydney band The Cockroaches, formed alongside his two brothers Anthony & John, Tony Henry and Jeff Fatt. The band produced four albums, one of which ‘The Cockroaches’ sold over 100,000 copies and is certified Platinum. After disbanding in 1991, Anthony formed The Wiggles with Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt. A few years later Anthony asked Paul to manage The Wiggles, a role he assumed for over 24 years, official stepping down in 2020. During this time Paul produced and directed over 40 video titles and many of the TV Series for The Wiggles.
Throughout his career, he’s produced and directed artists ranging from Kylie Minogue, John Fogerty from Creedence, Tim Finn, Steve Irwin, Joey Fatone and even Slim Dusty.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
